Many of you have contacted me wanting an update on the Middleton Drive extension. Unfortunately, it's not good news.

The project is only around 100 metres of road, but its completion is critical for Middleton Grange.

Right now, residents in the Parkbridge Estate effectively have one way in and one way out. This isn't just an inconvenience, it's a longstanding major safety issue.

In 2022, Anne Stanley MP secured a $6 million Federal Government commitment towards getting it built.

Four years later, Liverpool Council still hasn't started construction.

Council has now advised that the project will cost $17.28 million, about $173,000 per metre, and they're almost $10 million short!

It's becoming a familiar story: Edmondson Avenue's massive funding shortfall, the Carnes Hill Aquatic Centre losing its promised 50m pool, and now Middleton Drive.

Just last month, Council announced its capital works program had been revised down by more than $40 million.

At a time when our population is growing rapidly and the demand for infrastructure has never been greater, Council should be delivering more, not less.

Residents have waited long enough.

Get the basics right. Get Middleton Drive built.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices. It’s a fast and reliable way to help people be informed and better prepared during local and national emergencies.

AusAlert will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested across Australia.

On Monday 27 July 2026 at 2:00pm AEST, your mobile devices, such as phones, tablets and smart watches may receive a test alert. It will clearly state that this is a test.

The device will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. It will also automatically turn on your device screen. It will override silent and do not disturb settings as it will be a critical alert.

More information about AusAlert and the test can be found here: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/.

I have been contacted by many concerned residents regarding the Holsworthy Aquatic Centre lease decision.
As a result, I have formally written to the CEO seeking transparency and answers the community is seeking and will continue to advocate on your behalf.
