City of Liverpool Meals on Wheels is seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Hand/Meal Packing Assistant to support our busy production kitchen. This role plays a vital part in preparing and packing nutritious meals for our community, helping older people and vulnerable clients remain independent at home.
Working as part of a small, friendly team, you will assist with general kitchen duties as well as the accurate packing of meals for bulk delivery.
What you'll be doing:
Pack meals accurately ready for distribution for bulk orders to other services
Assist with basic food preparation (e.g. peeling, chopping, portioning)
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and work areas
Wash dishes and utensils
Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Support the serving and dishing up of meals with care and attention to detail following strict guidelines and consistent portion control
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment
Follow food safety and hygiene standards to ensure meals are safe, high quality, and suitable for aged care clients
Able to work in cold conditions as you will be loading meals into the Refrigeration units
What we're looking for:
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail, especially when packing and labelling meals
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to learn)
Previous kitchen or food handling experience

Successful candidate will need to be prepared to undergo a NSW Police check for working with vulnerable persons and must have received the Covid vaccinations.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Hospitality Industry General Award - Kitchen Attendant Grade 1
