As National Volunteer Week comes to an end, we would like to take a moment to sincerely thank our incredible volunteers for the kindness, dedication, and care they show to our community every single day. 💙

Your time, compassion, and commitment make a real difference in the lives of so many people, and we simply could not do what we do without you.

As a small token of our appreciation, our volunteers were presented with gift cards to enjoy a meal at Liverpool Catholic Club. These gift cards were generously donated through ClubGRANTS provided by LCC and were presented by Director Joe. We thank Liverpool Catholic Club for their ongoing support of our volunteers and community.

City of Liverpool Meals on Wheels is seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Hand/Meal Packing Assistant to support our busy production kitchen. This role plays a vital part in preparing and packing nutritious meals for our community, helping older people and vulnerable clients remain independent at home.

Working as part of a small, friendly team, you will assist with general kitchen duties as well as the accurate packing of meals for bulk delivery.

What you'll be doing:
Pack meals accurately ready for distribution for bulk orders to other services
Assist with basic food preparation (e.g. peeling, chopping, portioning)
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and work areas
Wash dishes and utensils
Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Support the serving and dishing up of meals with care and attention to detail following strict guidelines and consistent portion control
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment
Follow food safety and hygiene standards to ensure meals are safe, high quality, and suitable for aged care clients
Able to work in cold conditions as you will be loading meals into the Refrigeration units

What we're looking for:
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail, especially when packing and labelling meals
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to learn)
Previous kitchen or food handling experience

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Hospitality Industry General Award - Kitchen Attendant Grade 1

Good nutrition plays a key role in helping older adults stay strong, maintain independence, and reduce the risk of falls.

Did you know protein plays an important role in reducing the risk of falls?

Older adults need around 25% more protein than younger adults to help maintain muscle strength, support mobility, and promote overall wellbeing.

Meals based on the National Meal Guidelines aim to provide up to half of daily protein requirements, through lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, legumes, nuts and seeds.
