Huge shout out to the delivery team here. 26 pallets on Monday, another 11 yesterday and another 6 today. Because of their amazing effort, we expect the whole lot to be cleared by sometime late this afternoon.

That's well in excess of 1000 parcels delivered in two days so far.

The delivery team absolutely rocks!

26 pallets of mail and parcels into the post office this morning.

It's going to take a little time to clear the backlog from no mail last week.

Please be patient. We know you want your parcels but so does everyone else and we're working as hard as we can to get everything delivered as quickly as possible.

Please don't come into the post office asking for your parcel - due to the high volumes involved, it just isn't possible to go looking for one specific parcel.

The highway is currently closed between Jericho and Barcaldine. It appears likely that it will not reopen until early next week.

There has been no mail delivered into Longreach since Monday and it looks likely that no mail will reach Longreach until Monday or Tuesday next week.

There has also been no mail heading east from Longreach since Monday afternoon and this will continue to be the case until a mail truck gets through the currently flooded area.

Longreach Regional Council elections are under way.

By now, the majority of postal ballots have been distributed through the mail system.

Have you got yours?

If you haven't it might be because there's some kind of problem with the address you used on the electoral roll.

Have you moved and not updated your address?

Have you used an address that you don't have any more (e.g. a PO Box you've closed)?

Is you address outside our delivery coverage area?

The post office has seen quite a few postal ballots being returned to sender that we've tried to intercept and hold at the post office for collection.

If you're missing your postal ballot, drop into the post office and ask. We may be able to help.

If you're hoping to pick up a postal ballot from the post office, please bring photo ID.
