MAN ARRESTED AFTER MFS FIREFIGHTER ASSAULTED

A man has been arrested after assaulting an MFS member at Craigmore this morning.

At 4.30am this morning, police and fire crews were called to Callanna Court after a vehicle was set alight in the driveway.
The fire threatened the property and the occupants retreated to the rear of the property. A short time later the owner of the car that was on fire made his way to the front of the house, he jumped into the fire truck and attempted to put it into gear.
A fire officer confronted the man and an altercation took place resulting in the man head butting the emergency services worker.

Fortunately the MFS member was not physically injured.
A 37-year-old man from Seaton was arrested. He is expected to be charged with assaulting an emergency services worker, illegal use, drink driving and resist arrest.

A man has been arrested after attempting to steal a fire truck and assaulting a firefighter in Craigmore this morning.

Friday saw catastrophic fire conditions across our state.

The CFS, with support from MFS, DEW, Farm Fire Units and Private Forestry personnel, responded to hundreds of fires across the state, with the major incident taking place at Cudlee Creek in the Adelaide Hills.

Our thoughts continue to be with those who suffered loss as a result of these fires. For recovery information and support, we encourage you to call 1800 302 787.

Finally, a massive thank you to all of the firefighters who have attended and continue to fight the fires across our state. With the weather heating up towards the end of the week, our crews will continue to work over Christmas, to suppress and mop up these fires, minimising any risk they may pose to the community.
