Year 11 and 12 Students and Parents,

Applications are now open for the 2026 QMEA–BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) Oresome Minds Camp, which will be held in Dysart from 20–25 September 2026 during the September school holidays.

This camp is designed for high-achieving Year 11 and 12 students from QMEA partner schools who are interested in pursuing university pathways and careers in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology, and other STEM-related fields, particularly within the resources sector.

Throughout the week, students will:
• Participate in mine site tours and industry experiences
• Work on real-world STEM and problem-solving projects
• Connect with BMA professionals and industry mentors
• Gain first-hand insight into mining operations and career pathways

This is an outstanding opportunity for students to explore STEM careers in a practical and immersive environment while building valuable industry connections.

What's included:
• ✈️ Flights and organised transport (excluding travel to and from local airports)
• 🏡 Accommodation
• 🍽️ All meals
• 🦺 Site-specific PPE

💯🎓 100 Days to Go! 🎓💯

Today marks a special milestone for our Year 12 students – just 100 days until the end of their school journey!
We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished so far and can’t wait to see what they achieve in the months ahead.
Here’s to 100 days of making memories, chasing goals, and finishing strong. The countdown to graduation is officially on! 🎉🎉

Last Friday, six Year 10 girls attended Toolkit for Girls at the Mackay Engineering College. Chloe, Zemyah, Savannah, Jorja, Keeley and Ella had the opportunity to try a range of hands-on trade activities including MIG welding, creating an electrical circuit for an FM radio, and working on a small engine.
Throughout the day, students also heard from female apprentices, including past Pioneer SHS students Ashlee and Demi, who shared their experiences in the industry and gave valuable tips on how to give yourself the best chance of starting a career in trades.
The experience helped students explore different career pathways and consider future subject choices for senior schooling. Students said they learnt the importance of taking every opportunity that comes their way and valued hearing different perspectives across a range of trades.
Some of the girls shared:
“I really enjoyed the welding.”
“I enjoyed getting to know and listening to other girls’ experiences.”
“It has definitely given me an idea of what I would love to do when I finish school.”
“A lot of it intrigued me.”
“I liked how the activities were hands-on.”
“Today was an absolute blast.”
“I 100% recommend it to other upcoming Grade 10s.”
