Built in Mackay. Designed for the future. 👏🛠️

This week I had the opportunity to attend the launch of this incredible new mining bucket, designed by 2MT Mining Products Pty Ltd and manufactured locally by Finesse Engineering right here in Mackay.

Capable of carrying up to 100 tonnes in a single swing, this project is a huge example of the innovation, engineering capability and skilled workforce we have in our region.

Proud to see Mackay continuing to lead in manufacturing, mining services and industry innovation 💚

What an incredible opportunity to attend the launch of this innovative new mining bucket, proudly designed and manufactured right here in Mackay 👏

It was fantastic to hear the story behind the project, with 2MT Mining Products Pty Ltd developing the design over many years of research, innovation and hard work, and Finesse Engineering bringing that vision to life through local manufacturing expertise here in our region.

Designed to carry up to 100 tonnes of rock and dirt in a single swing, this impressive piece of equipment showcases the world-class capability we have right here in Mackay across engineering, advanced manufacturing and mining services.

Projects like this are a reminder that Mackay is not only supporting the resources sector, we are leading with innovation, skilled local jobs and industry expertise that is recognised on a global scale.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project from concept to reality. A fantastic achievement for our region and something our community can be incredibly proud of.

The final meeting for this term of the Mackay Youth Council
So proud of what these young leaders have achieved over the past 18 months, building confidence, creating opportunities for young people and making a real contribution to our region.
From the hugely successful Youth Fest to representing the voices of young people across Mackay, this group should be incredibly proud of the legacy they leave behind.

A big thank you as well to the Mackay Regional Council staff who supported and mentored the group along the way.
The future is bright.
Can’t wait to see the next generation of young leaders step forward as elections officially open for the next Mackay Youth Council term.

Yesterday marked the official final meeting for the current Mackay Youth Council, wrapping up an incredible 18-month term of leadership, advocacy and community contribution.

What makes this initiative even more special is that Mackay was the first region to establish a fully democratically elected Youth Council, and over the past three years we’ve seen these young leaders help shape something truly meaningful for our community.

The first Youth Council laid the foundations, developing the structure, documentation and processes from the ground up. This second term has continued to build on that legacy with passion, confidence and a genuine commitment to representing young people across our region.

One of the standout achievements from this group was the hugely successful Youth Fest held at the Northern Beaches Community Hub an event that brought young people together in a positive, engaging and inclusive way.

It has been wonderful watching the personal growth, leadership and confidence develop within this group over their term. The future is certainly bright with young people like these stepping forward in our community.

A sincere thank you also to the Mackay Regional Council staff who have supported and guided the Mackay Youth Council throughout their term. Your mentorship, encouragement and commitment behind the scenes have played an important role in helping these young leaders grow and succeed.

Congratulations to each and every member on your contribution to Mackay, and thank you for the time, ideas and energy you have given. Wishing you all the very best as you continue through school, graduated Year 12, or move into the next exciting chapter of your journeys.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the next group of young leaders step forward, with nominations and elections now officially open for the next Mackay Youth Council term.

Walking together for a safer future 💜

Today our community came together for the Respect In Every Step march, standing united against domestic and family violence and promoting the importance of respectful relationships.

So powerful to see schools, young people, community groups, emergency services and locals all walking side by side with one shared message, respect matters.

Thank you to Rotary Mackay Corporate, Rotary Club of Mackay and everyone who took part in such an important initiative 💜

Today I joined our community in the Respect In Every Step march, standing together to raise awareness and say no to domestic and family violence. 💜

Throughout May, our region has come together to promote an important message, respect matters. Respect in our homes, our relationships, our workplaces and throughout our community.

It was incredibly powerful to see so many young people, schools, community groups, emergency services, organisations and local leaders walking side by side today, united in support of safer communities and respectful relationships.

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Mackay, Rotary Mackay Corporate and everyone involved in organising this important event and continuing these conversations across our region.

Domestic and family violence affects far too many people, and awareness, education and support all play an important role in creating change.

Together, we can help break the silence.
Together, we can help build a culture of respect 💜

What a fantastic turnout for the Mackay Outdoor Adventure plus Home & Lifestyle Expo today!

It was great to see so many locals and visitors out enjoying the event, checking out the latest caravans, camping gear, boating and fishing displays, lifestyle products, local exhibitors and businesses visiting our region from out of town.

Events like this are wonderful for Mackay, not only do they bring people together and showcase what’s on offer, but they also support local business, visiting exhibitors and economic activity across our region. We really appreciate these events choosing Mackay and bringing people into our community.

A special shoutout as well to our very own Sarina Sugar Shed it was fantastic to see them set up at the expo showcasing one of our region’s iconic attractions… and Mum even managed to buy herself a limited edition! 🍹

A big congratulations to the organisers, exhibitors and volunteers who help bring these large-scale events to life. There was such a great atmosphere all across the grounds today!

Loved catching up with familiar faces throughout the day and seeing so many people out enjoying everything our region has to offer🌴
