This week’s Floral Friday and Sea of Hearts project have been embraced by the Bilby children with so much love, enthusiasm and pride.

Our Sea of Hearts may be small, but our love for the Torres Strait Islands is huge.

Pioneer Community Kindergarten is sending a special Heart to Thursday Island with Mrs Niederle and Mrs Port next month. Created with love by the children, each heart represents kindness, connection and the friendships we are building as we learn more about Torres Strait Islander culture.

Through creating hearts and celebrating Floral Friday, our children have strengthened their sense of belonging, deepened their respect for others, and grown their understanding of Torres Strait Islander culture and community.

A huge thank you to Percy’s Mum, Jess, for creating this beautiful crocheted scene inspired by Finding Nemo to support the Bilby class learning about Torres Strait Island and the Great Barrier Reef.
Family contributions such as these enrich our program and reflect the strong partnerships we share with families, helping children see that learning is valued and supported both at home and at kindy.

Thinking about Prep for your little one?

Join the fun at Slade Point State School Playgroup and Ready, Set, Prep sessions! These are a wonderful opportunity for children to explore the school environment, make new friends, build confidence and become familiar with their future school before starting Prep in 2027.

Families are encouraged to come along, meet the school community and learn more about the exciting journey to school.

What an incredible Under 8's Day celebration! We shared a huge afternoon of fun inspired by The Very Noisy Bear, complete with music, movement, storytelling, and a very special VIP visitor, Demi Dog.

A huge thank you to Mrs Niederle, Mrs Port, Mrs Sobetzko, Mrs Clayton, and the wonderful parents who helped with setting up and packing away afterwards. Community events like this are only possible because of the support, teamwork, and generosity of our kindy village.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
