🚒 🌳🍃 🧭 🗺️📍 Operate In Remote Environments course - RFS
North Macksville RFS member joined brigade members from Talarm & Temagog to engage in 2day training early May, in the Lidsdale State Forest near Lithgow, with a recent assessment day in same location
The Lower North Coast crew joined 5 groups who came from all over NSW
Course incl: practical & theory
Pre-requisites: Advanced FF: First Aid Application: Arduous Med & Pack Test
Instructors covered:
🧭 Map & compass navigation in trackless environments with several legs/stages to complete
🗺️ At ea waypoint/grid ref scenarios covered: * medical emergency * requesting a helicopter * setting up a hooch/tent
🥶 12* thankfully no rain
Note: Minimal photographs as only map and compass allowed

Good luck Liz

Today we congratulated our Manager following her promotion to Area Commander – North-East.

We would like to sincerely thank Chief Superintendent Liz Ferris for her leadership, support, and commitment during her time with the District.

Liz’s contribution to our members, brigades, staff, and communities has been greatly valued and appreciated.

While we are sad to see Liz leave, this promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and leadership.

Congratulations on your new role, and thank you for everything you have contributed to the District. We wish you all the very best for the future.

🌳🚒🌧️🫨😮‍💨 At approx 5 pm Thurs May 28th, a gum tree fell onto Giinagay Way near Teagues Creek.
The Nambucca Heads SES & Fire and Rescue 397 arrived on scene quickly and began the job of clearing the tree to allow traffic flow
The efficiency of the teams had the road cleared, washed down and traffic moving through at approx 6.15/6.30
Awesome work
💧 The North Macksville RFS is highlighting this event to assist in alerting the community to the many hazards in the current weather conditions

AGM 14 May - Changing of the Guard …
It was with great sadness that the Nth Macksville RFS recently learned that our highly regarded Captain,Terry, had chosen to step down
The AGM therefore saw the induction of the new Captain, Chris - congratulations Chris

Have you checked your smoke alarm ‼️
“In almost half of all fires we attend each winter, there is no smoke alarm or it’s not in working order” F&R
“The majority of fires broke out in the kitchen or cooking areas” F&R

🚒🔥🪵 Pile Burn
Sat May 9 the North Macksville RFS assisted land owners by conducting a Pile Burn: the crew remained on scene until 1900hrs after engaging in a handover with the owners
The Rural Fire Service is always keen to assist in conducting Pile Burns or Hazard Reductions on your property if you live within the Nambucca Shire or the Kempsey Shire.
