This week in our BabyROO classes, we’re chatting about body awareness. 💜
But what is body awareness, and why is it so important for babies?
Body awareness is a child’s developing understanding of their body — where it is in space, where one body part ends and another begins, and how those different parts can move.
From birth, babies build this internal “map” of their body through touch, movement and sensory experiences. As that map develops, it supports important skills including balance, coordination, movement control and motor planning.
At BabyROO, we provide lots of sensory-motor experiences that help babies discover their bodies. Massage, tummy time, rolling, reaching, crawling, creeping and moving through different positions all send valuable sensory information to the developing brain.
💜 Sensory-motor experiences help develop body awareness — and every little movement counts!
Want to learn more? Enrolled families can find further information about body awareness in your Parent Portal.
If you haven’t received a timetable yet for next term because you’ve been away don’t forget to ask for one or head onto your portal to see Term 4 Classes and availability to re-enrol.
