We were proud to be involved in 'Dying to Know Day' at Maitland Hospital on 12 August. It's a wonderful initiative that encourages people to ask the tough questions, have important conversations, and access information that can help them feel more informed and prepared.

Keep an eye out for next year's event, held in August 💜

When Life Changes Course 💜

Midlife can bring so many changes — relationships, careers, children leaving home, caring responsibilities, health, friendships, finances and our sense of identity.

But we don’t always recognise these experiences as grief.

Join us for Workshop 5: When Life Changes Course — Grief, Identity & Loss in Midlife, exploring the often-unseen grief that comes with major life transitions and how we can rebuild meaning when life changes direction.

💜 FREE • ONLINE • SELF-PACED
Complete in your own time throughout August.

📣 For all the carergivers out there… Carers Australia are encouraging people to 'make their caring count' by answering 'yes' to the question on providing unpaid care when filling out their Census tonight.

Many Australians don't realise they are carers.

If you provide unpaid care, help or assistance to a family member or friend because of disability, mental illness, a long-term health condition, terminal illness, alcohol or other drug issue, or age-related needs, you are a carer.

Caring can include:
• Helping with personal care such as showering, dressing or feeding
• Providing transport
• Managing medications
• Attending appointments
• Offering emotional support
• Assisting with everyday tasks and emergencies

There are more than three million carers across Australia, making up almost 12% of our population.

This Census, the Australian Bureau of Statistics is asking about unpaid caring responsibilities to help ensure carers are seen, recognised and counted.

Carers receiving Carer Allowance or Carer Payment should also select “yes, provided unpaid care, help or assistance”.

Learn more at abs.gov.au/census and share this post to help others recognise they may be carers too.

👀 Free Palliative Care Workforce Education and Training 🧡

Most Australians would prefer to receive care, and where possible, remain in the comfort of their own home during the final stages of life. The Australian Government's Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care (GCfAHPC) Program supports this choice by improving access to coordinated, person-centred palliative care services delivered through Primary Health Networks. The Government also funds a range of free palliative care education and training opportunities that aim to help participants develop a range of practical skills.
