Our community pantry and emergency relief shelves are looking a little bare for winter. Can you help with donations? We can use almost any shelf-stable groceries, and we also have fridges and freezers to store other items. We accept in-date, unopened food.

We can also use your cash donations (tax deductible) to buy specific things to help our community. Specify the program you want to support when making your donation. Contact [email protected] for more information about donating before the end of this financial year.

Our community garden has survived the wet season and is looking for some helpers to plant out some seeds for winter. All the tropical edibles in the round garden need pruning too. Anyone skilled with cassava harvesting? Plenty of Qld Arrowroot to share. Come and learn about these amazing staples and how they are grown and used.

For the month of June we'll meet Monday and Friday mornings from 9-11am - pop in and see the team and volunteers - everyone is welcome. 13 Eacham Place, Malanda.

Brrrrr - has it dropped below 10 degrees at your place yet?

As the weather cools down, we’re collecting practical winter essentials to help support people in our community doing it tough.

Donations we’re currently seeking include:
🧡 Tinned soup, tinned meals, baked beans, tinned spaghetti, cup soup sachets, noodle cups, quick oats and other easy options
🧡 Tea, coffee, sugar, bikkies and long-life milk for our foyer kitchenette
🧡 Blankets and sleeping bags - new, or clean and washed please
🧡 Warm socks and beanies - new please - for all sizes from bubs to seniors

Every donation, big or small, helps create a little more warmth, comfort and care for someone who may be struggling this winter. These are distributed via our Community Pantry and Emergency Relief programs, as well as stocking our foyer kitchenette - a safe place to stop awhile.

If you would like to contribute, please drop donations to ECHO during opening hours: 13 Eacham Place, Malanda - 9am-4pm Mon to Thu, 9am-12pm Fri.

Thank you to our amazing community for always showing up for one another. Together, we can help make winter a little easier for local families and individuals in need.

National Reconciliation Week 2026 invites all Australians to reflect on our shared history, strengthen relationships, and continue walking together toward a more just and respectful future.

At ECHO, we recognise the importance of listening, learning, and building genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Reconciliation is not a single week of action — it is an ongoing commitment to truth-telling, respect, cultural safety, and creating stronger communities together.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands we live and work on, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded.

This week, we encourage our community to take time to:
🤎 Learn local histories - there are some great stories shared at the Malanda Visitor Information Centre
🤎 Support First Nations voices and businesses
🤎 Reflect on how we can all contribute to reconciliation in everyday life
🤎 Continue building relationships based on respect and understanding

Real change happens through connection, honesty, and shared action — and every conversation matters.
