Today our Council, CEO and Executive Team came together for a strategic planning session as we continue shaping the future of Mandurah.

I may not have managed to capture everyone in a photo, but what I did see throughout the day was a group of people who care deeply about our community and are committed to making thoughtful decisions for the years ahead.

Being part of these conversations always reminds me that good outcomes don't happen by chance. They come from people who are willing to listen, challenge ideas, work together and keep our community at the centre of every discussion.

I am incredibly grateful for our Councillors and City staff who continue to show up with professionalism, passion and a genuine commitment to serving Mandurah.

There is a lot of work that happens behind the scenes that our community never sees, and today was a great reminder of the dedication, experience and leadership that exists across our organisation.

I am looking forward to the journey ahead and what we can achieve together for our community💛

Happy Fun Fact Friday, Mandurah 💛

This week’s Fun Fact is that there are more than 18,300 registered dogs right here in the City of Mandurah 🐶

This week, I teamed up with our Rangers to shine a light on just how much Mandurah loves its four-legged family members. From our dog beaches and parks to local walking trails and pet-friendly spaces, it’s easy to see why Mandurah is such a great place for dogs and their humans alike.

Registering your dog helps keep pets safe, supports responsible ownership and helps our Rangers reunite lost pets with their families faster.

If you’d like to register your dog online, renew their registration, or explore all the dog exercise areas across Mandurah, you can find everything here 👇

A massive shout out to Ranger Melsie for jumping onboard the Fun Fact Friday train🙌 Absolute champion!

See you next week for another Fun Fact Friday 💛

it was awesome to join our Mandurah Magic family in celebrating 30 years of Mandurah Magic last weekend❤️

While it’s always good to have both teams come away with wins, the real celebration is the thousands of people who have helped build Mandurah Magic over the past three decades.

Shout out to the players, coaches, managers, life members, mentors, volunteers, board members, sponsors, families, supporters and every single person who has played a part in creating the club we know today.

A massive congratulations on 30 years of Magic✨Here's to the next chapter of the Mandurah Magic story.

Let’s Go Magic☄️

Over the last few days I have heard from so many people about storm damage, fallen trees, debris, maintenance issues and other concerns across our community.

The recent weather has highlighted how important it is for people to know who to contact, and it is a good reminder that any time something needs attention there are clear ways to get in touch with the City.

Whether it is a pothole, damaged infrastructure, a maintenance concern or a general enquiry, the City team is here to help and the quickest way to get things actioned is by reporting it directly.

The easiest way is online at👉 https://www.mandurah.wa.gov.au/our-city/contact-us
You can also call the Customer Service team on (08) 9550 3777, email [email protected], or visit 3 Peel Street during business hours.

If you have spotted something that needs attention, after the storm or at any other time, please let the City know so the right crew can get onto it quickly.

And a big shout out to everyone who helped out over the weekend. The SES, City crews, contractors, emergency responders and the many everyday hero’s who stepped up to help where they could~ thank you💛

📸 Check out this extraordinary image captured by Andy Carolan Photography at Madora Bay Beach. It shows the force of the weekend’s weather and the impact it had on that part of our coastline.

Hey Mandurah 👋

We do a lot of great things here in our community, and we’re especially good at looking out for one another.

Last week at Council, we endorsed our Public Health Plan, which is an important step in supporting the wellbeing of our community and planning for a healthy future for our growing city.

There’s been a lot of thoughtful work behind this plan by our City officers, councillors and partners that goes beyond just our services. It’s about creating a place where people feel supported, have access to what they need, and can live well now and into the future.

I’m looking forward to seeing this work continue and how it helps shape a healthier Mandurah into the future.

Today I had the pleasure of catching up with one of Mandurah’s community champions, the legendary John Lawrence from the Mandurah Muscateers.

Many people know the Muscateers for refurbishing computers and helping people access technology, but what often goes unseen is the significant support they provide to local chaplaincy programs. Through their fundraising and community partnerships, more than $475,000 has been contributed towards chaplaincy support over the years, helping local chaplains continue their work across our community.

A big thanks to John and the entire Mandurah Muscateers team for everything you do, and to all of our incredible local chaplains who continue to support people through some of life’s toughest seasons. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, providing practical support, helping someone navigate a crisis, or simply being a consistent presence when things feel overwhelming~ thank you.

Behind every strong community are people who choose to invest in others, and Mandurah is fortunate to have so many who do just that💛

Flashback to the Mandurah NAIDOC Netball Carnival a couple of weeks ago.
It was awesome to join in the opening of this special event and see 24 teams from across the region come together to celebrate culture, connection and community through sport.

More than 100 games were played throughout the day, and as Reconciliation Week comes to a close, this carnival is a great example of what reconciliation looks like on the ground. Bringing people together, strengthening connections, celebrating culture and creating opportunities to learn from one another.

One of the highlights of the day was the beautiful artwork created by Noongar artist Bianca Wilder. The piece reflects the Peel region’s waterways, estuary, rivers and ocean, while also telling the story of the Mandurah Netball Association. At its centre is the centre pass, surrounded by the many people who make netball possible, including players, families, coaches, volunteers, clubs and committee members. The travel lines represent both the journeys players take to the courts and carnivals across the region, and the waterways that connect our community, while the seven circles symbolise the seven players on the court. It was a powerful reminder that sport is about so much more than the game itself. It is about people, connection and belonging.

Congratulations again to everyone involved, the players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, families, organisers and supporters who helped make the day such a success. Thank you for creating a space where community, culture and sport could be celebrated side by side💛

What I love most about being a West Aussie is the way we come together when things get tough.

After the wild weather and damage across our community over the weekend, WA Day looked a little different this year. Instead of barbecues and putting our feet up, many people spent the day clearing fallen branches, helping neighbours, checking on friends and lending a hand wherever it was needed.

A huge thank you to our SES volunteers, emergency services, Western Power crews, City of Mandurah staff, community groups, local businesses and the many residents who have worked tirelessly over the past few days.

The storm may have been brutal, but it also showed the very best of our community. People looking out for each other, pitching in and doing what needed to be done.

That's the WA spirit, and it's something worth celebrating this WA Day.

Filled to the brim with gratitude for our amazing City and all those who call it home! Thanks, Mandurah💛

Hey Mandurah 👋

Following the weekend's storms, green waste disposal at the Waste Management Centre will be free for the next two weeks, ending 5pm on Sunday 14th June.

The centre is open until 4pm today, and then:

Monday to Friday – 7am–4pm
Weekends – 8am–5pm.

The centre is at 80 Corsican Place, Parklands and we will grant free disposal of clean, uncontaminated green waste (garden prunings, tree loppings, lawn clippings, tree limbs/branches etc). Note that green waste cannot contain sand, soil, or timber.

Our green waste verge collections do start in central Mandurah this week, but these collections can take a few weeks to finish across the City. So you can either choose to wait for your green waste verge collection or take it directly to the waste management centre for free over the next two weeks. Here’s the link to the green waste verge collection timetable.

The latest advice from Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA is asking us all to exercise caution and stay away from damaged buildings, fallen trees, fallen powerlines and other storm related hazards.

Emergency services are receiving a high volume of requests for assistance and are prioritising jobs based on risk to life and safety. Our City teams are also out there working hard to address any safety issues on public land, facilities, infrastructure and local roads caused by the storm.

DFES reports that it has received over 685 SES requests for assistance as a result of the severe weather, with the highest number of reports coming from the Perth metro area, followed by Peel. Most requests are for roof damage, water ingress, fallen trees, structural damage and localised flooding.

Thank you so much to our incredible City of Mandurah teams out there responding, and the Mandurah SES and all emergency services crews working hard to make sure we’re all safe 🙌

If you need assistance at your home with flooding or fallen trees on your house contact Mandurah State Emergency Service on 132 500. You can also report a local storm-related issue like fallen trees or flooded roads to the City on 08 9550 3777. However, please be aware that with the high number of issues reported, it may take some time for our teams to safely respond.

Be patient, check in on your neighbours, stay safe and please call 000 if the situation becomes life threatening.

⛈️ PLEASE NOTE: Storm Advice - STAY AWAY FROM DAMAGED BUILDINGS AND OTHER HAZARDS has been updated for parts of PERTH METROPOLITAN, SOUTH WEST and LOWER SOUTH WEST For the latest information visit emergency.wa.gov.au or the Emergency WA app⛈️
