Despite a few weather interruptions, the 95th Waroona Show was a fantastic success, bringing together families, exhibitors, volunteers and visitors to celebrate one of the Peel region's most treasured traditions. As the only agricultural show in the Peel region, the event once again showcased the community spirit, agricultural heritage and regional pride that make Waroona so special.

A big thank you to Hon Jessica Stojkovski MLA, Minister for Peel, for attending and joining the community in celebrating this important milestone. We also acknowledge Simone Magno, President of the Waroona Agricultural Society and the outstanding work of the whole Waroona Show organising committee, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and the Shire of Waroona. Your collective efforts ensured another outstanding community event that highlighted the best of local agriculture, creativity, local talent and family fun.

We were pleased to have our Chair, Myri Riddy, alongside fellow Peel Development Commission Board members and staff, in attendance supporting this much-loved regional event and celebrating the people and organisations that make it possible each year.

Congratulations on 95 years of bringing people together. Here's to many more years of celebrating the best of Waroona and the Peel region. 🌾🎡🐑

Get 100 hours of project support from a UWA student intern this summer

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship at UWA is now accepting projects for its Summer Intensive Internship Round, giving organisations access to skilled UWA students keen to apply their skills to meaningful community-focused work.

Students complete 100 hours from November to December 2026 (approximately three days per week over six weeks), providing dedicated support for projects in areas such as research, IT, data science, business analytics, communications, marketing, policy and more.

This is one of the Centre's most popular internship rounds, attracting strong student interest from a wide range of disciplines. Summer internships can help progress projects, build organisational capacity and provide students with valuable insight into your organisation and its impact in the community.

Coming to the Peel region this month is a workshop series aimed at supporting regional businesses to sharpen their pricing skills for WA Government contracts.

The workshops are designed for regionally-based suppliers of goods and services, works, and community services.

The workshops are hosted by the WA Government's Local Content Advisor Network and will be held in Mandurah over 20 and 21 October.
