At 37 years young, Collaroy is officially up for grabs - any takers?

Sadly the cost of long term maintenance will likely prevent her being taken on locally for preservation - plus we need to make sure the historically significant South Steyne's future is secure which is proving challenging enough.

If an overseas operator does not come in and buy her, then perhaps the best way to preserve her legacy would be to scuttle her off one of Sydney's beaches as a tourist dive site. There is not a lot remaining of her older sisters out there now so this could rejuvenate the dive and artificial reefs that were created when Dee Why, Curl Curl and Bellubera were scuttled 40 to 50 years ago.

As a former Master of Collaroy, she was my favourite of the four Freshwater Class. If the govt wont return her to service, then I think the scuttling idea is the way to go.

Great News :D :D

Removing the Freshwater Ferries from Sydney Harbour was reckless, we're reversing that.

Bringing back as many of these incredible Aussie built ferries as possible.

And bringing them back to work on our harbour permanently.

Keep the pressure on ... :D :D

Keep the pressure on ... :D :D

πŸ‘πŸ» Freshwater Ferries return to the Harbour 7 Days a week.

βœ… More ferry services on the way.

The Manly to Circular Quay route will be boosted with an extra 30 services per week following the re-introduction of Freshwater ferries to the weekday timetable.

I have long advocated that a hybrid-timetable including both types of boats is the best approach.

This will mean more options for commuters and people who love the Freshwaters can continue to enjoy them on the weekdays too.

The Freshwaters will be in service from Monday to Sunday with a two-hour service frequency.

This allows commuters and visitors to choose their preferred ferry to cross the harbour.

The quicker Emeralds will remain during peak, and the final timetable will be developed shortly.

βœ… A sensible outcome.
