A Capes Foundation Experience. Encounter some of the magnificent resident raptors close-up during twice daily Birds of Prey Encounters. Learn how the birds use their extraordinary sensory abilities to track and catch prey, and find out about our rehabilitation work. The displays feature the rare opportunity to have your photograph taken with a raptor. Yo

ur visit to Eagles Heritage includes a self-guided 1km bush walk, which winds among native flora to reveal aviaries housing diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey. Entry fee income supports the Centre’s important work as the main care and rehabilitation facility for raptors in Western Australia, caring for and rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned birds of prey.

🦉 Today is International Owl Awareness Day!

To celebrate these incredible birds of prey, we’re hanging out with Pauline the Powerful Owl and taking a closer look at one of her incredible adaptations: semi-zygodactyl toes!

Powerful owls are the largest of 11 different owl species in Australia, and their huge, specialised toes help them to perch securely and then launch into the hunt with precision.

If you’re in the Margaret River Region, be sure to pop in and say hi to Pauline and the other owls that call Capes Raptor Centre home.

Sound on 🔊 for snack time during our Bird of Prey Flight Display 🤣

Our black kites are incredible educational birds, demonstrating how they can eat “on the wing” meaning they can catch, handle and consume food entirely mid-air, maintaining continuous flight!

Encounter these speedy skills during our twice daily flight displays, hosted in our flight arena, just 5 minutes from Margaret River.

Welcome back to another segment of Rob's Random Facts at Capes Raptor Centre!

🦅 Today we're hanging out with Stuart, our resident Little Eagle.

Little Eagles are among the smallest true eagle species in the world, weighing just 1 kg. However, their closest relative is the extinct Haast's Eagle of New Zealand, which weighed 17 kg 🤯. Just imagine seeing one of those soaring overhead!

Meet Renee! 👋

Renee is one of the passionate team members you'll meet at Capes Raptor Centre.

🦅 As Training and Husbandry Coordinator, Renee plays a vital role in caring for the centre's resident birds of prey, overseeing their daily welfare, enrichment and training.
When she's not working alongside eagles, owls and falcons, Renee loves walking the coastal trails at Cape Naturaliste in the north of the Margaret River Region!

🦅 Our incredible Tenacious Tuesday volunteers recently spent the morning re-perching an aviary for our resident disabled falcons, creating a more accessible and enriching space for them to explore, perch and move around safely. It's just one example of the valuable work our volunteers do behind the scenes to support the welfare of the birds in our care.

Interested in joining the team?

We currently have several volunteer opportunities available:
🔨 Tenacious Tuesday (fortnightly) – Help with aviary improvements, perch replacement, w**d management and general maintenance.
🚐 Rat Run (every 4 weeks) – Drive to Perth to collect food supplies for our birds and occasionally assist with wildlife transport, vehicle provided.
🦅 Raptor Runner – Be on call to help transport injured birds to veterinary clinics and wildlife carers when needed.
🍃 Park Upkeep (Wednesday mornings) – Help prepare the sanctuary for visitors by maintaining paths and public areas.
