🧡 Winter is here 🧡
Over the long weekend, Margaret River SES volunteers responded to a large number of storm damage incidents.

While the rain fell and the wind howled, our volunteers answered a high volume of requests for assistance with fallen trees, damaged roofs and water ingress, working long hours in wild weather.

To every volunteer who put on the orange and stepped up for their community, thank you. We are endlessly proud of you. The care, resilience, stamina and selflessness shown over the past few days was nothing short of remarkable.

A heartfelt thank you also to South West Machinery for their support keeping our chainsaws operational throughout an exceptionally busy weekend.

This weekend was a powerful reminder that when our community needs help, ordinary people do extraordinary things. We are incredibly grateful to stand beside such an amazing group of volunteers. 🧡

For natural hazard assistance, call SES on 132 500.

Is your home and garden ready?

‼️This weekend’s severe weather will bring with it lots of rain and extremely strong wind. ‼️

Is your home prepared?💨⛈️

Now is the time to do those last checks so you don’t have a new pond inside the house 💧🦆or lose your trampoline down the road. 🌪️

We recently received our new General Rescue Utility vehicle. While we were sad to see our troopy leave, we soon had the chance to try out the new GRU.

We received a call to a tree fallen on a house almost before we hung the new car keys up! Our crew used chainsaws to clear branches and made temporary repairs to the house.

🧡🧡The GRU passed its induction and is now a full member of our unit having transported crew and materials, and been a Roof Safety System anchor. 🧡🧡 🧡🧡

Is your home ready for the incoming bad weather? 🧡If not now is the time to prepare.🧡

Happy New Year all.

As we round up the new year celebrations, Margaret River SES wants to celebrate one of our VIP members.

Les Hayter was recently awarded Life Membership of the Margaret River SES as well as being acknowledged by the SES Volunteers Association (SESVA) and DFES for his massive contribution which spans 35 years.

Les started his SES journey at Karratha SES in 1990. He has also been a volunteer at Swan SES and currently volunteers with Margaret River SES. Les has filled the Training Manager role in various SES units as well as being a Trainer Assessor in multiple SES skills.

He has also worked as a paid staff member for DFES (formerly FESA) over many years and was instrumental in creating and delivering various training packages for SES volunteers.

Les is known by all for his enthusiasm and knowledge. He is a mentor to many and is always ready to help. Thank you Les!

We would also like to acknowledge Les’s wife Gillian who supports Les to be able to dedicate so much time to the SES. We thank you too, Gillian 🧡
