The countdown is on 🏐

The concrete surface has now been laid for the new netball court at Hedges Oval, with surface works to come next.

Delivered by local contractor Maffescioni Constructions and funded by the Victorian Government, Council and the project contractors are working towards netball returning to Hedges Oval on Saturday 20 June – weather permitting 🤞

🥳Community Grants opening July

$30,000 in funding is available as part of our 2026-2027 Community Grants Program with applications to open Wednesday 1 July to Wednesday 29 July.

Grants of $500 to $3,000 support activities, events, equipment and infrastructure.

Applicants must attend an Information Session at the Maryborough Community Hub before applying:

📍Friday 19 June, 10 to 11.30am
📍Monday 22 June, 5 to 6.30pm
📍Tuesday 23 June, 1.30 to 3pm

🌱 Gardening Workshop 🌱

A big thank you to everyone who joined the Healthy Loddon Campaspe beginner-friendly vegetable gardening workshop yesterday!

Hosted by the Maryborough Community Garden, the session covered the essentials of starting a home veggie patch — from choosing the right location and improving soil health to selecting seasonal vegetables for your garden.

It was wonderful to see so many people keen to learn new skills and grow their own fresh produce. 🌿🥕

An upgrade to the Wareek Hall is now complete!

The project has delivered:
• Upgraded doors, locks and lighting for improved security
• A new concrete wheelchair‑accessible ramp
• A small awning verandah at the rear of the building

These improvements were made possible thanks to joint funding from the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund, Council and the Wareek Public Hall Committee.

Happy National Volunteer Week! 💚

On Monday night, together with the Maryborough Volunteer Resource Group, we proudly celebrated more than 150 incredible local volunteers at our annual thank‑you event.

It was especially wonderful to recognise the contribution of so many young people who are stepping up and shaping the future of our community.

We also acknowledge the many volunteers who couldn’t be with us on the night.

To every volunteer across the Central Goldfields: thank you for the dedication, passion and community spirit you bring to making our Shire a great place to live.

Great news for local netball! 🏐

Construction of the new netball court at Hedges Oval is now underway, with the project being delivered by local contractor Maffescioni Constructions.

Made possible thanks to funding from the Victorian Government, the $450,000 upgrade includes:
• A new court surface
• Training‑standard compliant lighting
• Player shelters
• A new retaining wall
• Fenceline improvements

The court is on track for completion by the end of June, with the contract for the new lighting infrastructure to be awarded shortly.

A big shout‑out to MARYBOROUGH GIANTS FOOTBALL + NETBALL CLUB for their advocacy and patience while the project is being delivered.
