A quick reminder for our Sunbury families that our Father’s Day Stall is open again tomorrow.

A number of students missed out on shopping earlier in the week, so tomorrow is another chance to bring along some money and choose something special for Dad, Grandad or another important person. 💙

It’s official, Sunbury… our Colour Fun Run is on the way! 🎉

Students have received their sponsorship booklets, and families can now create an online fundraising profile and start working towards some fantastic prizes.

A reminder to our Sunbury families that Friday 4 September is a Student Free Day.

There will be no classes for students on Friday.

🏫 Thursday 3 September - normal school day
🚫 Friday 4 September - Student Free Day
🎒 Monday 7 September - students return as normal

Need care for Friday? 💙
Helping Hands Sunbury will be open from 6:30am to 6:00pm and has a special day planned, including a visit from the Fire Brigade from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. 🚒

Children attending will have the chance to learn about fire safety, meet local firefighters and explore a real fire truck.
Families requiring care will need to book directly with Helping Hands to secure a place.

A handy reminder to get those Friday arrangements sorted now. 😊

After an absolutely brilliant Book Week, we’re rolling straight into another busy week of learning, celebration and community at Sunbury!
🏊 Monday - Swimming
Swimming continues today for our Prep/1L and 1L students. Don’t forget swimmers, towel and all the usual pool gear! 💦
🏆 Monday - Parade from 2:20pm
We’ll be celebrating some more of our Book Week fun today, including our colouring competition and Best Dressed winners. 📚🎭
Families are always welcome to join us.
🍞 Tuesday & Wednesday - Breakfast Club
Start the morning with some toast, milk and friendly faces before the school day begins.
🎁 Tuesday & Thursday - Father’s Day Stall
Our Father’s Day Stall will be open from 9:00am in front of the tuckshop, with gifts available for Dad, Grandad or another special person. Siblings will shop together. 💙

Chess Club and Robotics Club are both back in action, giving students even more opportunities to learn, create, problem-solve and try something different.

This week we also celebrate the wonderful people who support our students and teachers every single day.
Our teacher aides and support staff are such an important part of Sunbury, often quietly doing hundreds of little things that make an enormous difference. We are incredibly grateful for everything they bring to our school community. 💙

🐝 What’s all the buzz about at Sunbury? 🐝

We had some unexpected visitors on the oval today when a swarm of bees decided Sunbury looked like a pretty good place to stop! 🌸

Our staff on duty handled the situation calmly and quickly, keeping students, families and staff well away from the area and making sure everyone stayed safe. A huge thank you to them for going above and beyond. 💙

Then it was Jack the bee guy to the rescue! 🐝🙌

Jack came out this afternoon and safely removed the swarm for us, bringing our little buzzing adventure to an end.

📚✨ WHAT A BOOK WEEK MORNING, SUNBURY! ✨📚

Wow. Just wow. 💙

Our Book Week Parade was absolutely bursting with colour, creativity, laughter and imagination this morning, and we honestly can’t remember seeing such an incredible range of costumes and enthusiasm for Book Week. It just keeps getting bigger and better every year!

From much-loved classics to newer favourites, superheroes, wizards, dragons, storybook legends and some wonderfully unexpected characters, our students and staff completely embraced the spirit of the day. 🎭📖

Where's Wally??? 😂❤️🤍 The answer, everywhere!

We had an impressive collection of Where’s Wally characters wandering around Sunbury, including Wally, Woof, Greybeard and plenty of very convincing imposters. Even our school therapy dog Sirius Mac made a special appearance dressed as Woof, although we’re fairly certain he was more interested in pats than helping anyone find Wally. 🐾

The atmosphere in the Hall was fantastic. Music playing, students dancing, costumes everywhere and an energy that was absolutely infectious. Seeing students, staff and families smiling, laughing and celebrating stories together is exactly what makes days like this so special.

And we haven’t even mentioned the BOOK COVERS! 🤩📚

Every class and staff area took on the challenge of recreating a favourite book on corflute, and the results are incredible. So much imagination, teamwork and effort has gone into them. After having their moment to shine in classrooms, they’ll be heading out on display around the school for everyone to enjoy.

Book Week is about celebrating stories, reading and the characters that stay with us long after we close the book, but today it was also about something very Sunbury: our whole school community getting involved, having fun and creating something memorable together. 💙

To every student, staff member and family who helped with costumes, book covers and all the little things that made today possible, thank you.

What a joyful, creative and wonderfully Sunbury way to celebrate the 2026 Children’s Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories. 🎶📚✨

📚✨ Tomorrow is Book Week Dress-Up Day! ✨📚

The costumes are nearly ready, the books have been chosen, and we cannot wait to see Sunbury come alive with favourite characters tomorrow morning.

We would love to see as many students as possible join in the fun, whether the costume is simple, homemade, borrowed or wonderfully creative.

Families are warmly invited to come along and celebrate with us as we fill the Hall with stories, imagination and plenty of Sunbury spirit. 💙📖
