Donation of Wooden Wash-house Laundry troughs…. From way out on the Moolort Plains. Not sure of their relationship to our wonderful 1840s Joyces’ Creek Squatters’ Hut…maybe half-step-cousins 5 times removed, but i reckon there’ll be something there!

- Also a brief mention of firewood donations during the Great War, to families, one or more of whose members had joined up.
- A 1911 'firewood bee', one of the annual, large scale collections from the forests and transportation into the Hospital Yard, close to the Steam and hot water Boiler House, with some near the stoves and fireplaces collection points, one expects! It includes a great pic of the Town Hall, showing the Neill St side with its external staircase, before the Council sold the Electricity network to the State Government, and used the funds for the Swimming Pool and the additions to the Town Hall. (The pic below, taken by the wonderful William (Billy)Ying, from the height of the Fire Brigade Bell Tower, looks down the side of the Town Hall, pre-extensions, to the junction where, in the Newsletter pic, the Firewood Bee assembled for their 1911photograph). tom w. page ed
