###--BSPS Pilot After Burn Report--###

After a last minute venue change to St Albans; BSPS claimed a prime spot in the paddock amidst all the chaos.

Highlights:
~ 120-130 letters delivered over 2 days
- carrier pigeon/ snail mail
- Super High Tea and workshops (Origami mail x2).
- Ricky's Not a Bar Bar that poked fun at the entire lack of a DA situation
- I'm pleased to report the theme camp has grown to ~15 members of whom 8 are new Burners.
- We were one of only 2 camps to maintain a fire barrel.
- Infrastructure wise we operated out of a borrowed 8x6m stretch tent with a reasonable amount of decor as seen in the photos below
- Saturday techno was pretty fun. I am told the sound system is very good.

Future improvements:
- improved crew kitchen space (this was neglected by me)
- larger area--> possibly a 9x12m stretch tent
- more chill/ ambient tunes during the day time; probably some blues/ jazz/ 50's/ 80's playlists. Am working on getting some live music acts in (the other theme camps seem to only do DJ music and center camp lacks ambience)
- improved lounging area
- will likely introduce a theme camp membership fee to pay for gifting (?$80-100)
- hammock area out the front
- ranking system for Postie hats (based on number of letters delivered)
- workshops for kids eg; paper planes
- art project ---> ?can we suspend a Baron Munchausen ship outside via helium balloon?
- a daily newsletter service (with jokes about the event/ some sort of daily event schedule)

Some future events:
- we’re looking at throwing a couple of theme camp fundraiser this year
- Third Degree/ ?Underland
- maybe work our way to a weekend getaway next year (deets to come)

Special thanks to myself for doing most of the work/ Courtney Buckingham for snail mail/ Laura Robinson for carrier pigeon post/ Lipscomb for Origami workshops/ Rickyd Cruz for Not a Bar Bar/ Alex Ford for the not setting me on fire again/ Newby for generally being helpful + transporting the chill space/ Stewart for wearing uniform 24/7/ - unsure what you did but you seem like a cool dude/ Fleming and Cole for tunes/ MB for the bubbles/ for spending hours baking for helping out with stretch tent & Russell for the vibes.

Future recruitment:
- someone to run the newsletter service
- more crafty types for decor (I'd like to make a Great A'Tuin light feature/ Lord Vetinari clock)
- crew kitchen lead (Possibly Manni)

Yours,

BSPS has been busy preparing for Pilot Burn next week

Hats are made

Burn Barrel tested

Banner yet to be sewn (? Gold on red velvet with brass pole or gold on purple velvet)

Pigeon and snail costumes being papier-mâchéd as I type

We have 10 new members of whom 9 are first time burners. They may be super green but I reckon they’ve got good burner bones; generous and keen to contribute

We also have our first interstate member coming up from Melbourne!

Come say hi to us next week!!!

We have Origami/ love letter workshops, a bar, psytrance, DNB and techno slots, chill day time tunes (mixed playlists) , portaloo mail, carrier pigeon and snail mail. Have we bit off more than we can chew? Of course! And it wouldn’t be as fun if we didn’t

*we also have a special goth edition Postie hat for a surprise volunteer Postie

Slow night shift so I've drafted a little floor plan for BSPS @ Pilot Burn this May

It'll be more plush, roomy and luxurious than Third Degree 2025.

Particular highlights I think are the Arabian lounge set/ cow hides/ flooring/ theme camp voting booth. The postal area will be pretty much the same as Third Degree--- few extra bits and pieces.

hehe and we may have 2m high column speakers (ostensibly to play chill jazz and blues music)

3kw genny acquired today!

We've got a great team of theme camp members shaping up (6 so far with potentially a few more coming!

Thanks again to Trevoire for lending the stretch tent. Depending on how it goes I'll look to purchase one later this year (maybe same size/ bigger but in fun colours?)

Very Excited!!!

2025 Reflection & 2026 BSPS Plans

2025 was a great year for BSPS. It was reincarnated and attended Embers, Underland (in collaboration with Underpants Post) & Third Degree. Thanks to Dane Murray for allowing us to take over the BS Post Or***ce FB page. FB is yet to allow us to rename it to something less anatomical.

Theme camp members seem to have grown to a loose collection of 5-6 people so far (with 2 genuine posties). Special thanks to Posties Alex Ford Pippa West Pippa May Callum Stewart Courtney Buckingham Pippa May Anita Freudman and Dom from Underpants Post. We also have several more interested in joining!

Highlights I think were the stationery, costumes and the new Postal box (if I do say so myself). A child's smile at having received a letter is nothing compared to really cool decor and lighting.

2026 Plans:
1) Purchase a stretch tent. I'm thinking red or gold ~ 8x10m (printed insignia would be cool) ---> see photo below for inspo

2) More performance art (special mail delivery types eg; Snail mail, Air mail)

3) Potentially look into a Postie bike/ Art car (I'm thinking a bright red vespa with matching side car). Transport to site is becoming an issue. The 7x4 trailer is already filled with stuff. Ideas on transporting a vespa to Capertree/ Underland would be appreciated

4) Decor ---> I'd like to make a Lord Vetinari ticking clock to continue the Discworld theme (think antique brass clock that inconsistently ticks)

5) Non mail related activities eg; High Tea ceremony, Wubs & Wuffles, origami workshops

If anyone has any advice on stretch tents let me know!

New Posties are always welcome. The position comes with a hat. Please comment below or PM Roland Warner (BSPS Post Master General)

Underland 2025 After Burn report

BSPS teamed up with our Victorian cousins to run the first iteration of Underpants Postal Service

It was a great success! Dom (from the K Sub/ Lounge crew) made up a neat booth and a bunch of custom postcards. BSPS provided most of the rest of the stationery.

We were hosted inside the Lounge red stretch marquee --> many thanks to the Lounge crew

Highlights:
- somewhere > 100 letters/ postcards delivered
- Friday postal delivery via the K Sub! Great fun to DJ off
- Sunday morning special Snail Mail delivery with Anita Freudmann (Postcards + snacks were kept in the snail shell)
- the BSPS ran a renegade sound camp in the woods with a couple of JBL partyboxes and tanks of suspicious volatile gases. It got to the point where Coco Poco Loco submitted a noise complaint that was subsequently ignored

In addition; we have a new Tasmanian Postal branch forming thanks to Mark Treloar. Mark is gunna bring a Postal Service to Aurora Burn next month --> I gifted some sheaths of postal stamps to get him started

All in all a great burn. Here's hoping for more interstate collaboration to come

3rd Degree 2025 After Burn report

4 entrepid Posties embarked on 3rd Degree 2025
- Roland Warner (Post Master General)
- Callum Stewart (Postie 2nd Class)
- Pippa May (Adora Belle the Postie cosplay 2nd Class)
- Courney Buckingham (First timer! -- Postie 3rd Class)
---> Courtney came up with a lovely side quest featuring riddles and custom stitched flame emojis (very well received!!!)

The Burn began poorly as a mob of bush turkeys ate all the loose leaf tea during set up. Threats to murder said bush turkeys were also not well received by fellow Burners.

However despite this set back we managed:

~ 96 envelopes delivered over 4 days
- Including 15 special delivery schwag parcels from Peter Simpson-Young.
- A further 10 letters were outsourced to a secondary delivery facility provided by Nugby and Oli (when Rolly and Callum were too hungover on Sunday)
- we received only 4 complaints of undelivered mail
~8 letters were cremated on the Temple

I am pleased to report that the BSPS marquee decor has matured -- see photos below.

Fabric was strung in catching patterns that caught the light. Fabric walls were made for the marquee. We now have carpet and more tables for the ever growing inventory of stuff.

Some suitably antique Postal implements have been sourced. We have a antique brass-ish stamp carousel in an art nouveau style (I'm very proud to have found one!). We have a series of brass-ish containers to avoid the collage of pens/ stationery see at Embers. I brought a mechanical typewriter that was last serviced in the 1950's by a Grace Warner.

The Post box did not blow over --- not even once-- not even when attacked by a drunken visitor late Thursday night.

Lighting has been upgraded with an LED cloud and assorted laser/ galaxy and sunset lamps. This ensures optimal late night letter writing conditions

The BSPS became a renegade sound camp for the first time. Genres included melodic techno/ DNB/ trance/ country/ aussie/ folk/ blues and jazz

To the point we were told to turn the music down on Sunday as we were too loud for the main hall (booo - who want's to listen to 6hrs of straight organic and disco house anyway?)

Future directions:
- BSPS will team up with a Victorian crew at Underland this month. In a nod to the local inhabitants; the BSPS will be temporarily renamed Underpants Postal Service (to be found at the Lounge)
- BSPS has applied to be featured as part of Sydney Decompression. Services may include a high tea ceremony

Next year:
- the decor will be further developed along the lines of a Aladdin styled chill space (more carpets/ cushions, maybe a couch)
- possibly a antique writing desk or similar will be added if trailer space allows
- more 2nd hand dressage gear (tailcoats/ tall boots) will be sourced
- ?Postie bike..... morning walks are a struggle....
- a bush turkey proof tea chest will be acquired.....

All those interested in the position of Postie; please comment below or contact Roland Warner the Post Master General. The position comes with a hat

Rolly
