This week, our U16 Boys Rugby Union team played their first match in the inaugural NSW Rugby CHS Western Shield competition after receiving a Round 1 bye.
The boys hosted Chifley College Bidwill, who arrived full of confidence following a strong opening-round victory. Featuring a squad made up of students from Years 8–11, our team played tough, fast rugby, working hard for one another and staying disciplined in their structures throughout the game.
Holding a narrow 7–5 lead at halftime, the boys regrouped as a large lunchtime crowd gathered to cheer them on. They responded in style, producing a dominant second-half performance to run away with a well-deserved 22–10 victory.
While there is still plenty to work on, the team never took a backward step. They played for each other, played for the jersey, and thoroughly earned their win through determination, teamwork, and resilience.
Sahkai received the 3 points with honourable mentions to Baylie and skipper Jayden who calmly slotted a superb 40-metre penalty goal.
Next up is the local derby against Richmond as we head down the Hawkesbury Valley Way for Round 3.
