Big News: A Massive Win for Access!

We are thrilled to share a major milestone in the push for national accessibility. In last night’s Budget, the Government officially announced a significant investment of $15 million over the next 3 years to expand Auslan Video Relay Services to operate 24/7.

What this means for our community:

This funding ensures that 24/7 access becomes a reality, providing a critical lifeline for those who rely on Auslan. Most importantly, this expansion includes the ability to contact emergency services at any time, day or night.

The Power of Advocacy

This is a massive achievement born off the back of tireless advocacy. Since we launched our own 24/7 service on 12th November 2025, we have seen firsthand how vital this "always-on" support is. This Budget announcement validates that work and ensures that the community's voice has been heard at the highest levels.

Where to find it: You can see the full measure detailed in Budget Paper 2, page 130.

Moving Forward Together

This is a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come and the more accessible future we are building. We are eager to see this funding put into action to ensure no one is left behind, regardless of the time of day.

Have questions? Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to sharing more updates as they become available and continuing our work toward an inclusive Australia.
