The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (the department) is seeking to appoint an Independent Member for its Audit and Risk Committee. The Committee reports to the department's Secretary. It is responsible for independent assurance and oversight of financial reporting, financial performance and sustainability, risk management, internal audit, legislative and policy compliance.

We’re on the lookout for First Nations emerging leaders to take part in the Barring Djinang leadership program – a tailored professional development experience for high-performing staff of the Victorian public sector, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Traditional Owner groups.

This year, we’re excited to be running this program in partnership with MurriMatters. The program will focus on ‘leadership in action’ by connecting personal and professional development with real-life projects.

Barring Djinang Internship Program

This Barring Djinang initiative is designed to connect Victorian public sector agencies with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander university students looking for paid work experience.

The summer program runs for 12 weeks between November 2023 and February 2024.

The Commission will be the central point of contact for the program and will help match the interns to roles based on their needs and field of study.

The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry & Regions (DJSIR) are looking for a Project Coordinator, Traditional Owner Programs, to liaise and coordinate across the department with Traditional Owners Corporations, working closely on opportunities for Economic and Business Development. The role will also support the strategic implementation of the Culture, Business, Wealth Creation and Accountability pillars under the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy, identifying economic development opportunities with the Traditional Owner Corporations, and provide secretariat support to the Traditional Owner Economic Development Manager network.

This is a designated position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with the Special Measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given priority consideration for this role.
