Feeling the winter chill? Get ready to be warmed up by the hottest cultivar of them all, 𝑇𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑎 ‘Fireball’ 🔥

Despite being commonly known variously as the African or French marigold, 𝑇. 𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑎 is a Central American species, occurring from Mexico south to Guatemala.

These gorgeous pops of orange are bursting with life in our refreshed Sensory Garden at Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, so come down and check them out in person!

🎫 1 x Lightscape Family Pass will be hidden somewhere at Melbourne Gardens in a mystery location from Monday 1st June – Friday 5th June

📍Check our stories on socials for the mystery location hint at 10am each day

🔍Visit the Gardens, find the hidden ticket first and return it to our Visitor Centre to redeem your prize

🚨 Conditions and rules of entry 🚨

Prize is for 4 tickets to Lightscape - 2 adults and 2 children aged 4-12 (children 3 and under do not need a ticket), or 1 adult and 3 children. All tickets must be redeemed at the same time.

The 4 tickets are valid only for the preview night of Lightscape - Thursday 11th June 2026 - and are not redeemable for cash equivalence.

This competition will end on Friday 5th June 2026 at 5:00pm AEST.

Only one prize will be awarded each day.

If there’s one native plant we think represents this year’s National Reconciliation Week theme ‘All in’, it’s silver banksia, 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢.

From producing nectar to sweeten drinks, to providing food and shelter for all kinds of wildlife, the silver banksia deserves us going ‘all in’ for reconciliation.
