Colour changing tea
Rainbow Infusion: A Tribute to the 78ers
A Legacy of Courage, Protest, and Pride

Rainbow Infusion was created in honour of the 78ers and all those who stood beside them. This colour-changing tea blend, made with butterfly pea flower, lemongrass, hibiscus, peppermint, lemon myrtle and rose petals, is a tribute to transformation, resistance, and q***r joy.

With each cup, we invite you to reflect on the legacy of our q***r and trans elders, those who risked everything so that we can live more freely today. Their courage wasn't just about protest; it was about imagining a world where pride, care, and community could thrive.

This tea is an invitation:

To pause.
To remember.
To celebrate the strength of our elders.
And to keep the movement brewing.

Rainbow glow cookie

A Tribute to Q***r Disability Justice

Q***r people with disability have been leading, building, creating, and caring for generations. Their power shows up in everything from sport and art to mutual aid and activism. This product honours that legacy, and the ongoing work of q***r people with disability who are transforming what pride, access, and community care can look like. It’s inspired by people like Robyn Lambird, one of the first out nonbinary Paralympians to win a medal, advocate with clarity, and live with bold joy.

This product is a small tribute to a powerful movement, because when we follow the lead of q***r people with disability, we build a more inclusive world.

We chose a cookie because everyone deserves comfort, no questions asked. Glow Cookies are inspired by q***r and disabled joy, designed to be shared and to spark conversation.

There is a change of plans for this month’s TGD Book Club. We were scheduled to discuss Nevada, but a community rally called “Hands Off Our State Library” is happening at the same time. As a community-led book club, we believe strongly in protecting public institutions that support connection, learning and safety.

Instead of meeting for a discussion this month, we will be heading to the rally together.

This Month’s Adventure: Rally for the State Library
📍 Location: State Library Victoria
📅 Date: Saturday 13 December
🕐 Time: 12:30pm
Why This Matters

The State Library is not just a building. It is one of the most important public spaces in Victoria, and it provides essential free services to 2.8 million people each year. Library workers:

• run information services and help people get online
• foster community connection
• offer safe spaces for people experiencing homelessness or family violence
• deliver programs for children and families
• support family history research and access to our heritage collections

These services are now under threat.

Library executives are attempting to cut 11 permanent librarian positions, leaving only 10 frontline librarians to run the busiest library in Australia. They are also planning to cut Visitor Service Officers, Children and Families officers, and other frontline roles, with proposals to outsource the library’s critical IT team.

Frontline librarians handle more than 50,000 enquiries every year, and they connect the public with over 5 million items in the collection. Losing these roles means losing the human expertise that keeps public knowledge accessible.

Executives are also planning to remove public computers, and force visitors to order items through an automated system, while millions of taxpayer dollars are redirected into unnecessary “digital” roles, executive pay rises, and flashy websites with no substance.

Public libraries with free, uncensored access to information are essential for democracy, critical thinking, and community wellbeing. In a time of misinformation and AI-generated content, we need librarians more than ever.

We hope you’re all cruising gently toward the end of the year. Our final TGD Book Club for 2025 is coming up soon!

📚 Book: Nevada by Imogen Binnie
📅 Date: Saturday 13 December
🕐 Time: 1:00–2:30pm
📍 Location: Thorne Harbour Health (and online via teams)

About the book
This month we’re reading Nevada by Imogen Binnie, a groundbreaking trans novel that changed the landscape of q***r fiction. It’s raw, funny, messy, and brilliant; the perfect read to close out the year.

Some copies were distributed to members earlier in the year but there are also copies in many libraries - we've linked to holdings via Trove to help you find a library near you that has a copy!

This month’s TGD Bookclub is extra special as we celebrate Trans Month!

It’s the perfect time to come along if you haven’t joined us before, or to reconnect if it’s been a while.

Our book club is run by and for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people, and offers a welcoming space to share ideas, reflect on our gender journeys, and connect through TGD culture and storytelling. We explore all kinds of media and we always include links to free readings, videos or audio. There’s no pressure to read or watch in advance. You’re welcome to just come along, join the chat, or simply hang out and meet folks. It’s totally fine if you’re late — we just want you to come as you are, when you can.

We are excited to be reading Award-winning First Nations author EvN’s book, Personal Score in September!

EvN played football from a young age, learning early on that sport can be a painful and exclusive world. The more they played, the more they realised about sport’s troubled relationship with race, gender and sexuality — and questioned what it means to play sport on stolen, sovereign land, especially in the midst of multiple environmental crises. Weaving memoir, poetry and polemic, Personal Score shines a light on athletes’ ability to challenge mainstream views within, and beyond, the sporting field.
