🌱 Calling all those with green thumbs!

In honour of the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show running this week, we're sharing the story of a trailblazing Australian garden designer.

Edna Walling was a keen photographer whose garden design style, passion and uncompromising vision left a lasting mark on Australian gardens.

Walling was known for her understanding of the unique challenges and delights of gardening in Australia, and her belief that houses should blend with the landscape and become part of nature.

At Billanook, we have chosen to put our Book Week celebrations on hold until Term 4. In the meantime, we watch for the CBCA Awards winners to be announced on Friday.

✨📚 Welcome to Book News! 📚✨

It’s almost time for Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week! While many children are learning remotely, the celebrations will go ahead as planned 21-27 August. The theme for 2021 is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds and if you visit the CBCA website you’ll find resources to download along with Shaun Tan’s stunning artwork that invokes flight as a symbol of movement between our inner and outer worlds. The 75th CBCA Book of the Year Awards will be announced online on 20 August at noon AEST. Make sure you join the celebration at cbca.org.au.

The Australian Society of Authors and Australian Booksellers Association have launched the 'shop local, read local' for Book Week, encouraging readers to support local stories from local bookstores. Share your favourite Aussie books or the Aussie stories that have helped sustain you over the past year with the hashtags !
