Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy (8 July 1949 – 2 September 2009), popularly known as YSR, was a two-time Chief Minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serving from 2004 to 2009. YSR was elected to the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Lok Sabha from the Kadapa constituency for four terms and to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for five terms from the Pulivendula constituency. Death
On 2 September 2009, a helicopter carrying YS went missing in the Nallamala forest area. The next morning media reported that the helicopter wreckage had been found on top of Rudrakonda Hill, 40 nautical miles (74 km) from Kurnool. Honour
On 8 July 2010, the Government of Andhra Pradesh renamed the Kadapa district as YSR district in honour of Y. Rajasekhara , who was a native of that district.After his death his son Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy (born 21 December 1972),also called Jagan is an Indian politician and is President of YSR Congress and Leader of Opposition in AP assembly. He started his political career by campaigning for Congress party in 2004 elections in Kadapa District, and in the 2009 elections he was elected as member of Parliament from Kadapa constituency as a member of the Indian National Congress. However, his political career took a new innings with the demise of his father, Chief Minister Y. His relationship with the Indian National Congress (INC) continuously deteriorated after his father's death.Six months after his father's death, he began an odarpu yatra (condolence tour) as promised earlier to go and meet the families of those alleged to have either committed su***de or suffered ill health on the news of his father's death.With the clashes going on with the congress and the false allegations of TDP party YS JAGAN MOHAN REDDY became more stronger and for the sake of the people and to fulfill his father's dreams he started a new party YSR CONGRESS PARTY.Jagan as a president of YSR Congress faced by-election from the Kadapa constituency and won by the huge margin of 545,043 votes.To support YSRCP party the Australian NRI committe have started a NRI YSRCP wing to support YSRCP in ANDHRA & TELANGANA.
