UJEB - United Jewish Education Board UJEB provides inclusive and engaging Jewish education and experiences for Jewish students in non-Jewish day schools.

More than 40% of kids in the Victorian Jewish community are in government schools. UJEB is working towards a strong Jewish future by helping these children to feel proudly Jewish, and strongly connected to their community.

Did you know? The shofar is sounded throughout the month of Elul, on Rosh Hashanah and one final blast to mark the end of the Yom Kippur fast.

Made traditionally from a ram’s horn, the shofar is one of our oldest symbols and has been used for thousands of years. Its powerful sound reminds us to pause, look inward and think about the year ahead.

It’s always a sad time when our ShinShinim leave us. 💙

They bring so much energy, and positivity not only to the children they work with, but to our office and the entire UJEB community.

Now it’s time to say goodbye to Noam and Neta. We wish you both all the very best as you head back to Israel and thank you for everything you have brought to UJEB during your time with us.

We are excited to share a wonderful new project that our HIP students started this week! 🇮🇱✈️ Each class will explore a different city or region in Israel, discovering its unique places, stories and culture while connecting everything back to their Hebrew learning.

Activities have been designed to suit each age group and Hebrew level, allowing every student to participate, learn and succeed.

At the end of the year, students will share their work with their families and take home their completed booklet as a special keepsake of their journey around Israel and their achievements in Hebrew.

What a fantastic evening bringing UJEB families together for a special Shabbat dinner! ✨

While the kids enjoyed an escape room and fun activities with our Madrichim and Shinshinim, parents heard from past and current UJEB students about UJEB High and beyond and the opportunities for continued Jewish learning, connection and growth throughout secondary school.

A wonderful night of community, connection and plenty of delicious food!

A big thank you to our volunteers and UJEB staff who helped make the evening such a success. 💙

The UJEB family joins the community in mourning the passing of Jack Smorgon AO z”l. Jack generously supported UJEB, helping create a place for Jewish students to belong and grow within the non-Jewish school system.

UJEB is deeply indebted to the generosity of the Jack and Robert Smorgon Family Foundation, whose support has helped strengthen Jewish education, identity and connection for generations of young people.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Smorgon family at this sad time.
May Jack’s memory be a blessing.
