Manufacturing has changed a lot! Next-gen engineers are using computers to control tools like drills, lathes and mills.

So when you train at TAFE, you might see things like Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment in the workshops.

That’s the case at Chisholm Institute’s new engineering facility in Dandenong. Students in the bright, modern workshop are using high-tech equipment to learn skills in CNC engineering.

The new Chisholm facility supports training in Free TAFE engineering courses, so students can train free from tuition fees.

Every day LJ dons a headset and answers calls for the Apprentice Helpdesk.🎧

LJ and the helpdesk team are there to help anyone who needs support or advice about apprenticeships or traineeships in Victoria.

The helpdesk has proven to be a great service for apprentices and trainees. It’s supported more than 3,000 callers in its first year.

LJ said the key to the helpdesk’s success was the ability to provide answers to specific queries quickly and easily.

‘When an apprentice calls, they can be specific on what trade they're doing and what level they are in their apprenticeship. They are able to seek out that advice quite quickly,’ LJ said.
