Seven Women Seven Women socially and economically empowers marginalised women through literacy, skills training and income generation.

About the Founder/ History of the Organisation:

Steph Woollard is the founder of Seven Women, a fair trade wholesale and retail business that sells handmade felt and knitted items as part of a grassroots development project that empowers women through income generation. During a trip to Nepal, Steph met seven women with disabilities who were operating out of a tin shed and experiencing harsh disc

rimination. Having witnessed the stark contrast between her quality of life and that of many women living in the impoverished country, she felt she had to do something to make a difference. Together with the seven women, a women's skills training centre was built with the profits from sales back here in Australia. This centre was a place for the women to live with dignity and learn skills that empower them economically. Fast forward to today and the initial seven women have now taken on managerial roles at the centre, which now employs over 5000 women, and are keen to pass on their skills to others. We hope to effect positive change in many communities in the future by applying the same principles of empowerment that we used with Seven Women. In the meantime, we are establishing a wholesale business to create more demand for the products the women make. This project has become as successful as it has today because of the input and time donated by many. We have had a huge team of volunteers who have worked tirelessly and with passion and enthusiasm to make a difference in the lives of women in Nepal. Today we had a really big day—an early morning start at the St Kilda Town Hall to speak at the Inspire Her International Women’s Day conference, and then we were quickly whisked off to the Inner FM radio station in Heidelberg to do another Heartlands radio show.

My absolute favourite thing about the whole day was having beautiful Rosella with me, who is currently interning with The Celtic Way. She said she had never been to a conference like this morning’s before, or to a radio station, and she did a brilliant job taking videos and photos at both events, as her passion is social media and capturing content.

She is so brave. She came here from Vietnam as a 22-year-old, having no one here that she knows, to do two years of university, which she is currently in the first year of. Her mum arrived a few days ago to visit her, and I can only imagine how life-changing it would be—not only for her, as a 22-year-old coming by herself out to Australia to study, the first one in their family to do so—but also for her mum to have the opportunity to come and visit.

I admire the courage people have to step out and live life’s adventures. ✨

Great fun this morning to be a guest on the radio program hosted by Beverley Pinder ᴏᴀᴍ on 88.3 Southern FM. Her show, Pinder’s Ponderings, focuses on the people and stories that help shape life in the Bayside community and beyond, and it was a genuine pleasure to be part of such a thoughtful conversation.

Beverley has a remarkable background of service and leadership in the community, and it is no surprise she has been awarded an OAM in recognition of her contribution. Her work continues to highlight voices and stories that deserve to be heard.

I’m also very much looking forward to tomorrow, when I’ll be speaking as a keynote at an International Women’s Day event alongside other inspiring women at St Kilda Town Hall, that Bev has been involved in organising. It promises to be a meaningful gathering celebrating leadership, resilience, and the impact women continue to make in our communities.

Feeling Free and Full of Joy

When I lead a tour, my greatest hope isn’t just that people see beautiful places—though they will—but that they feel something far more lasting: a sense of freedom and joy that lifts the spirit.

On my Nepal tours, I watched this happen again and again. Visitors would arrive with a busy mind and heavy heart, only to leave with a lightness in their step, laughter in their voices, and a renewed sense of wonder at the world. I realized then that travel isn’t just about destinations—it’s about transformation.

Now, bringing that same experience to Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, my goal is the same. Whether walking along the rugged cliffs of Mayo, exploring the misty Highlands, or discovering the quiet beauty of Welsh valleys, I want people to feel fully alive, fully present, and fully themselves. Every step is an invitation to breathe deeply, laugh freely, and connect—not just with the land, but with each other and with a deeper part of themselves.

Joy and freedom aren’t just feelings—they are the heart of the journey. And whether it’s the melody of a Gaelic song, the story behind a centuries-old castle, or the simple delight of sharing a cup of tea with new friends, I want every guest to leave carrying that sense of wonder with them, long after the tour ends.

This is what makes travel meaningful. This is what I aim to share on every journey with The Celtic Way. Free, joyful, alive—the way travel was always meant to feel
