Flooding the local market with US cheese imports that's travelled thousands of kilometres to get here doesn't make sense to us.

The results are in for this year’s 2026 Victorian Farmers Federation State of the State Farmer Priorities Survey.

When it comes to farmers and regional Victoria, it’s a case of another year, another missed opportunity of action on the issues that matter most.

The state of our roads has surged to be the #1 issue facing regional Victorians and NINE in TEN farmers once again don’t believe the Victorian Government understands local issues or has a positive plan to grow the $22 billion ag industry.

It's always a step in the right direction when our crumbling regional roads get the much-needed funding they deserve.

While we welcome this move, the fact is our regional roads have been neglected for far too long:

👉Planned road resurfacing and rehabilitation works in regional Victoria have been cut dramatically over the past five years;

👉Targets for regional road resurfacing and rehabilitation have fallen from 11,800 thousand square metres in 2021–22 to just 2,859 thousand square metres in 2026–27, a reduction of more than 75 per cent.

Moves such as this must be followed by a long-term commitment to fix our roads.

More than 500,000 potholes will be repaired under a major state government blitz funded by level crossing savings, as roads shape up to be a defining battleground for November’s state election. > https://bit.ly/4gYIrOp
