State Schools’ Relief

State Schools’ Relief State Schools’ Relief provides support to any Victorian student attending a government school, on the advice of the school.

State Schools’ Relief is a Victorian not-for-profit that supports the needs of disadvantaged government school students by providing new school uniforms, school shoes and a host of other essential educational resources, including learning devices. Our simple and practical service ensures that all students can attend school in warmth and comfort with a greater sense of belonging and improved self-e

steem, which in turn assists students to engage in their learning and strengthen their educational outcomes. Issues such as poverty, neglect, unemployment, health issues/ illness, financial hardship, bereavement, domestic violence, homelessness, and natural disasters continue to affect many Victorian families. We work side by side with all Victorian primary, secondary, specialist and language schools to ensure that any students facing hardship have the necessary items they require for school. If you are a parent or carer and you need financial assistance with your child’s government education, please make an appointment with the school principal, assistant principal, or welfare/well-being coordinator to discuss your situation

We were delighted to attend the Government Schools Principals Conference in Melbourne last week.
The conference brought together school leaders from across Victoria to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore ways to better support students and school communities.
It was wonderful to connect with so many dedicated educators and talk about how we can continue working together to support students experiencing disadvantage.

Bushfires can deeply impact school communities, and supporting students through recovery is so important.
Messages like this beautiful letter and thank you card from Mansfield Primary School truly mean the world to our team. They remind us why we do what we do every day.
We’re so grateful to have been a support to Mansfield PS during their bushfire recovery and to stand alongside their community when it mattered most.
Thank you Mansfield PS for the privilege of being able to assist.

We’re pleased to share that State Schools’ Relief will be exhibiting at the National Education Summit.
The Summit brings together educators, school leaders, government and sector partners to explore ways to improve equity, access and outcomes for students. It’s a great opportunity to connect, share ideas and continue important conversations about supporting students experiencing disadvantage.
Our team will be there to talk about how we work alongside Victorian government schools, the programs we deliver to support students and families, and how working together across the sector helps ensure every child can attend school with confidence.
We’ll also be showcasing our social enterprise, which supplies quality school uniforms to schools and organisations. All profits from uniform sales are reinvested into our welfare programs, directly supporting disadvantaged students and their families.
If you’re attending the National Education Summit, we’d love to see you so please come and say hello.

We’ve been out and about in Ballarat this week! Our School Partnerships team has been visiting local schools, building relationships, and supporting staff to connect students with our welfare programs.

We also joined a community networking event at the Ballarat Town Hall (you might spot our SSR van in the photos!) where we had productive conversations about the challenges families are facing and the ways our programs can help.

Our Glasses For Kids team has been busy too — working with two schools this week and returning to Ballarat next week to support another three.
Here’s to working alongside the Ballarat community to make sure every student has the support they need.
