The VDL provides reviewers and adjudicators for your shows, organises the extensive annual Awards program, provides annual Youth Theatre Summer School, provides play assessment for playwrights and does this all on a shoestring and with loads of dedicated volunteer input! Synopsis
Based on the much-loved TV comedy and set in occupied France during World War II, ’Allo ’Allo centres on café owner René Artois, who reluctantly finds himself caught between the French Resistance, the German army and a series of increasingly complicated schemes, all while trying to keep his own chaotic situation under control. Around him is a cast of eccentric and fast-moving characters, including his long-suffering wife Edith, two mistresses, a secret admirer, bumbling German officers, and British airmen hiding in the back.

The play thrives on confusion, disguise and miscommunication, with multiple storylines unfolding at once. From hidden paintings and mistaken identities to elaborate escape plans, it’s classic British humour that relies on strong timing and a clear sense of control within the chaos.

Chookas 🐥 to the cast and crew of PEP Productions show The Heartbreak Choir that opens THIS Friday 12th June.

Directed by Justin Cleaver, it’s set in the old CFA hall on the outskirts of town, a small group of locals come together to sing, and to connect. Aseni, Barbara, Mack, Savannah and Totty have splintered from their original choir on a matter of principle and are intent on forging their own path. With their latest recruit Peter along for the ride, they have a new name, a space to rehearse in and a public debut booked. All they need now is to right the wrongs of the past … and to find a song that pairs perfectly with the local winery’s Sangiovese. This warm, funny and moving play takes us on a journey through heartbreak and reconnection through the power of music, friendship, and community.

Directed by Julie Cunningham, this comedy is swt in post-industrial Sheffield, where six unemployed steelworkers decide to bare it all in a strip show to earn money and reclaim their self-worth. “The Full Monty” is a gritty, hilarious, and deeply human story of friendship, vulnerability, and resilience.
