I appreciate the wonderfully supportive response to my announcement that I'm standing as a genuine community Independent candidate for the Williamstown District (which includes the suburbs of Altona, Altona North, Brooklyn, Newport, Seaholme, South Kingsville, Spotswood, Williamstown, Williamstown North & part of Yarraville). I can't do this without the support of lots of people in the local community, so please help support my campaign by any of the following ways:

๐Ÿ’œ Sharing my social media posts and following my campaign here: Tony Briffa - Community Independent for Williamstown District.

๐Ÿ’œ Hosting a sign in your front yard or on your front fence (especially if you live on a road that gets lots of traffic).

๐Ÿ’œ Talking to friends, neighbours and family that live in the area and encouraging them to support an Independent Candidate (me).

๐Ÿ’œ Making a donation to the campaign via my campaign website (I'm self-funding everything because I'm not a member of a political party or group). My campaign website is here:

For REAL change for our area, don't vote for a political party candidate. Vote for someone that has years of experience listening to and working for our community, and has runs on the board evidenced by lots of improvements to our local foreshore, shopping precincts, parks, playgrounds, libraries, roads, sporting facilities and lots more.

Political party candidates always have to do what their party wants ahead of everything else. As a genuine community Independent I will always put the Community First. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’œ Happy Wear It Purple Day! ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, lots of caring people are wearing purple, and itโ€™s not because theyโ€™re all supporting my election campaign!

They're wearing purple to celebrate LGBTQIA+ young people, and so am I. Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported and proud of who they are. ๐Ÿ’œ

Iโ€™m pleased to announce Iโ€™m running as your community independent candidate for Williamstown District in the November Victorian State Election. The Williamstown District includes the suburbs of Altona, Altona North, Brooklyn, Newport, Seaholme, South Kingsville, Spotswood, Williamstown, Williamstown North and part of Yarraville.

I was born in Altona and have lived in our local area my entire life. I'm very passionate about our community and supporting people, community groups, businesses and our environment.
I have a lifetime of service to our community. I was the Convenor of the Hobsons Bay Residents Association prior to being elected to the Hobsons Bay City Council in 2008. I first served as Mayor in 2011, and was re-elected to the council in 2012, 2016 and 2020.

Professionally my career has included working for Defence, the Australian Federal Police and the aviation provider for Ambulance Victoria. As a former Bail Justice I regularly refused bail to accused persons that were a risk to the community and Iโ€™ve been a Justice of the Peace since 2005. I'm also an Honorary Fellow of Victoria University.

I'm keen to have your support to ensure our community has strong, effective, experienced and genuine representation in Parliament. Over many years I've heard community members complain that all major parties take our community for granted. I'm not a member of a political party, and over my years on the council this has ensured my focus remained on fearlessly representing the community over political parties or interests, and allowed me to challenge the inequities of funding for our area by successive State Governments.

If elected, I'll work hard for you and be accessible and accountable to our community. I'll also commit to having regular public meetings to determine my parliamentary vote on important issues. Iโ€™ll collaborate and do politics differently.
Independent Members of Parliament can be effective and marginal seats attract a higher priority with governments and their budgets. Letโ€™s make real change for our community at the election in November.

Please support my campaign by sharing my posts, hosting a sign in your front yard, or volunteering at a voting booth. Iโ€™m also self-funding my campaign, so any donations to help fund my election materials are welcome.
