Meeting: Promoting Digital Leap, Collaboration , Investment and Innovative opportunities in Sri Lanka
NIO Melbourne successfully hosted a “Networking Discussion” on Sri Lanka’s IT Sector on Sunday, 5th October 2025, in Dandenong.
The event was graced by Hon. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Mr. Upul Abeysiriwardhane, Advisor to the Digital Economy.
During the session, detailed discussions were held on emerging investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s IT industry, the development of digital platforms and ways to strengthen international collaboration. The deputy minister also emphasised the importance of identifying current challenges within the system and implementing effective technological solutions to address them.
The event was attended by technology professionals, Sri Lankan and Australian business representatives, and members of NIO Melbourne —creating a valuable platform for dialogue, innovation, and partnership between the two countries. During the session, the IT Coordination at NIO Australia, Mr. Harendra Rajapaksha, together with a group of technology experts, also presented several key proposals to the Deputy Minister.
The program concluded successfully and marked another important step towards achieving Sri Lanka’s strategic digital economy goals.
Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne attended the event while in Australia on an official visit, accompanied by several officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy, as part of a program organized by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී ශ්රී ලංකාවේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණ ක්ෂේත්රයේ නව ආයෝජන අවස්ථා, ඩිජිටල් වේදිකා වර්ධනය, සහ අන්තර්ජාතික හවුල්කාරිත්වය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම පිළිබඳව සවිස්තරව සාකච්ඡා කෙරිනි. එමෙන්ම පද්ධතියේ දැනට පවතින අඩුපාඩු හඳුනා ගැනීම සහ ඒ සඳහා තාක්ෂණික විසඳුම් ලබා දීම ඇතුළු, ජාතික ජන බලවේග රජය විසින් ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික අමාත්යාංශයක් ස්ථාපිත කරමින් සිදු කළ මැදිහත්වීමේ වැදගත්කමද, නියෝජ්ය අමාත්යවරයා විසින් පැහැදිලි කරන ලදී.
මෙම වැඩසටහනට තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණ වෘත්තීයවේදීන්, ශ්රී ලංකා සහ ඔස්ට්රේලියානු ව්යාපාරික නියෝජිතයින් සහ NIO Melbourne නියෝජිතයින් එක්විය. ඔස්ට්රේලිවේ ජාතික විද්වත් සංවිධානයේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණ ක්ෂේත්රය සම්බන්ධීකරණය කරන හරේන්ද්ර රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඇතුළු තාක්ෂණවේදීන් කණ්ඩායමේ යෝජනා සම්බන්ධව අමාත්යවරයා දැනුවත් කිරීමත් මෙහිදී සිදුකෙරිනි.
ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික කටයුතු අමාත්යාංශයෙන් නිලධාරී මහත්ම මහත්මියන් කීපදෙනෙක් සමග ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික කටයුතු නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය එරංග වීරරත්න මහතා ඔස්ට්රේලියානු රජයේ, විදේශ කටයුතු හා වෙළඳ දෙපාර්තමේතුවේ නිල ආරාධනයකට අනුව සංවිධානය කල වැඩමුලුව අතරවාරයේදී, මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී විනි.
සාර්ථකව අවසන් වූ මෙම අවස්ථාව, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික උපායමාර්ගික අරමුණු සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් තැබූ වැදගත් පියවරක් ලෙස සැලකිය හැක.
