🇭🇹 Happy Haitian Flag Day - 18 May

223 years ago in Arcahaie, our ancestors created a flag that became a symbol of unity, courage and freedom.

They took the blue and red, got rid of the white and gave birth to a nation that changed history forever.

L’union fait la force.
Unity makes strength.

Today is a reminder of the strength, resilience and spirit of the Haitian people everywhere in the world.

Haiti’s story is one of courage, dignity and liberation and it deserves to be remembered with pride.

I spent the day at a coffee expo… and it was more than just coffee.

There’s something powerful about being in a space where people are deeply passionate about what they do.

You can feel it in the way they speak, create and obsess over the smallest details!

What stayed with me wasn’t just the taste (although that was unforgettable)… it was the reminder that mastery lives in the details ❤️

Haiti Just Won the Fashion Game at the Opening Ceremonies

The athletes from the Caribbean nation wanted their appearances to honor their country’s heritage. The result is looks that stand out.

Haiti is, for obvious reasons, not exactly a Winter Olympic regular, but it has two athletes at these Games: Richardson Viano, an alpine skier, and Stevenson Savart, a cross-country skier. That makes them among the smallest delegations in the parade, but, nevertheless, they have won the opening ceremonies fashion game by a mile.

Albert Einstein struggled a lot at school.
Teachers thought he was slow and lacked promise.

Years later, he wrote about how damaging rigid education can be for young minds. He believed curiosity mattered more than obedience, and imagination more than rote learning.

What stays with me is this.

The man who changed how we understand the universe was once dismissed because he didn’t fit the mould.

The lesson is not that struggle makes you great.

It’s that being misunderstood does not make you wrong.

Good leaders remember this. They recognise potential… They pause and listen…. and stay present long enough to witness the growth unfold.

If we want to see what someone can truly become we might need to stop rushing them to prove it too soon.

Clear, timely communication is one of the kindest things we can offer each other.

In relationships, friendships and leadership, unspoken frustration rarely disappears. It sits quietly, grows heavier and eventually turns into something louder than it ever needed to be.

Speaking early doesn’t mean speaking harshly. It means clearing the air while respect and care are still intact.

When we choose honest conversation over silent resentment, we give ourselves and others a chance to understand and adjust and move forward.

Unspoken upset is a slow ticking bomb. Clear the air. Protect the connection. Choose peace ❤️

As the world welcomes the first day of the year Haitians of the world welcome Independence Day.

On this day in 1804, Haiti Ha’s done something the world has never seen before! Enslaved people stood up, claimed their freedom, and changed history forever.

Haiti’s independence was a declaration of dignity, courage, and human worth. Its impact reached far beyond its borders and continues to echo through time.

Today, we honour the ancestors who fought for liberty and the enduring strength of the Haitian people.

As this year comes to an end, I just want to pause and say thank you.

It’s easy to focus on what’s behind us or worry about what lies ahead.

This quote reminded me that what truly shapes our days is what we carry within us, our values, our intentions, and the way we choose to meet the world.

As we move into a new year, I hope you keep what feels true and gently let go of what no longer serves you. Make space for the people who bring you calm, the work that feels meaningful, and the moments that remind you to slow down and breathe.

More than anything, I hope the year ahead brings a little more kindness into the world. More understanding, more listening, and more peace, both within ourselves and between one another. We need it.

Wishing you a soft ending to this year and a hopeful, grounded beginning to the next!

On Sunday in Bondi, lives were taken and forever changed. Families are grieving, friends are in shock, and a whole community is hurting.

I want to honour the innocent people who lost their lives, those who were injured, and everyone whose sense of safety was shattered in a place meant for sunshine, laughter, and everyday moments.

I also want to acknowledge the heroism we witnessed. The courage of the brave man Ahmed Al Ahmed who stepped to protected others when fear would have been the easier choice.

In moments like this, it is natural to feel anger, fear, and confusion. But this is not the time for hatred or division.

Violence grows where humanity disappears. Healing begins when we choose compassion, restraint, and care for one another.

Today, let us hold the victims and their families in our hearts.

Let us check on our neighbours, speak gently, and remember that peace is not passive. It is an active choice we make, even when it is hard.

It was a clear act of hatred and of terrorism. Very very sad that my beloved Australia made this history.

But Bondi is more than what happened on Sunday. Australia is more than this moment.

We honour those lost by choosing unity over blame, love over fear, and humanity over hate.
