Meet Savvy and Bing 💛
When Savvy first met Bing through the AMCS Volunteer Visiting Program, she was going through a time when she didn’t feel very confident and wasn’t getting out as much.
Then Bing started visiting.
What began as regular visits gradually grew into a genuine friendship sharing conversations, spending time together and simply having someone there to connect with.
Savvy says the friendship has helped her regain her confidence and encouraged her to get out more, continue studying and try new things. Seeing the difference Bing has made has even inspired Savvy to think about becoming a volunteer herself one day.
For Bing, the connection is just as meaningful. Volunteering gives her an opportunity to contribute to her community, spend time with someone else and build a friendship along the way.
Their story shows what the AMCS Volunteer Visiting Program is all about bringing older people and volunteers together for regular companionship and meaningful social connection. Where possible, we match people based on shared language, culture, interests and life experiences.
💛 Could you be that connection for someone? Become a volunteer visitor and make a difference simply by sharing your time.
🏡 Would you or an older person you know enjoy some company? Register to receive regular visits from a friendly volunteer.
