The Consulate General of Pakistan, Melbourne in collaboration with the Family Safety Education Committee hosted an important panel discussion titled “Breaking Barriers, Creating Change”, aimed at raising awareness about family violence, addressing common misconceptions, and highlighting the support services and resources available to victims within Victoria’s local framework.
The event was attended by the High Commissioner Irfan Shaukat, Hon. Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, representatives from the Department of Home Affairs, Victoria Police, relevant government agencies, community organisations, and members of Melbourne’s diverse multicultural communities.
Distinguished panelists shared valuable insights on recognizing the signs of family violence, understanding legal protections, and accessing support mechanisms available to those affected. The discussion underscored the importance of fostering safe communities through awareness, education, and collective responsibility.
The panel discussion was followed by an engaging Q&A session, providing participants with an opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of this sensitive yet critically important issue.
