Carers in Shepparton and surrounds are fabulous! 💗

It was awesome to see you all at the lovely High Tea at The Vault in Shepparton recently. Around 50 carers joined this event. There was great food, live music, dancing, music trivia and plenty of laughs and smiles.

This event was a joint effort with a number of local organisations present sharing about their services and supports, and the Carers Victoria team were able to help many with their questions and support needs as well. A great day had by all!

Carers in Werribee, Melton and Caroline Springs are awesome. 💗 We connected with many carers during October at our carer lunches and brunches.

We were also delighted to see first-timers at the events, and everyone actively engaging in conversations, sharing experiences and connecting with others. 🙂

Carers expressed how grateful they were for the continuation of these brunches, providing valuable time for themselves, a chance to take a break from their caring responsibilities and enjoying the company of others who understand their journey.

There are over 200,000 unpaid carers in throughout Regional Victoria – people providing vital support to family members and friends everyday.

If you support a family member or friend with disability, illness, mental health challenges or age-related needs – you’re a carer.

To help support more carers across Victoria we are expanding our Roving Respite program, bringing this special event to Leongatha in November. Join Carers Victoria for:

Carers in Narmbool, Sovereign Hill, Ballarat and surrounds are truly lovely and respectful. We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Carers Week with a beautiful High Tea at Narmbool Gardens & Homestead.

To every carer across Victoria, these lights are for you.

Victoria has been looking a little brighter this National Carers Week.

Across the state, landmarks have been illuminated in Carers Victoria's colours to recognise the more than 750,000 Victorians who provide unpaid support to a family member or friend.

From the Bolte Bridge, Box Hill Town Hall, Moonee Valley Clock Tower and City of Monash Civic Centre to Victoria Park Lake, Mooroopna Water Tower, Monash Park Tree and Riverlinks Eastbank in Shepparton, communities are helping make carers visible and acknowledge the vital role they play every day.

This year's theme, Care for a Carer, is a reminder that carers deserve to be recognised, valued and supported, not just this week, but throughout the year.

A special thank you to City of Melbourne, Transurban, Whitehorse City Council, Moonee Valley City Council, City of Monash, and Greater Shepparton City Council for helping bring these beautiful lighting activations to life and for shining a light on carers across Victoria.

Do you care for a child living with autism?

There's a new Thriving Kids Autism Helpline from Amaze you can go to for extra support. It's a free national service providing information, advice, and support for parents, supporters, carers, and kin of children aged 0 to 8.

The Helpline supports families from the first time they notice a developmental difference or delay, have questions about autism, or need help understanding available services and supports.

With glorious views across Melbourne’s C*D, carers, sector partners and government representatives came together to recognise the invaluable contribution of Victoria’s more than 750,000 unpaid carers.

More than 100 carers from across the state joined us for afternoon tea, conversation and an opportunity to connect, be seen and feel valued.

The Hon. Luba Grigorovitch MP, Minister for Carers and Volunteers, shared insights from her own lived experience as a young carer. Ann-Marie Hermans, Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region, also joined us to show her support for carers in our community.

Carers Victoria Board member Carol Webb spoke with warmth, humour and honesty about caring for her son with disability. Her story reflected the message at the heart of National Carers Week - Care for a Carer: Making Carers Visible - because too often, carers do not feel seen.

Thank you to the carers and guests who joined us, including representatives from across the sector, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - VIC and our Board. Always a pleasure to be together in the same room, with shared purpose.
