If you hold a pensioner concession card or Veterans' Affairs Gold Card and you're a homeowner, you can apply for the same discount on your rates.

It’s called Municipal Rates Concession.

What if carers are still struggling with rising costs?

What if support continues to come too late?

What if carers are still left to navigate the system on their own?

We speak with carers every day, and you have told us exactly what needs to change.

Now it's time to make sure decision-makers hear it too.

This election, we're asking you to spend two minutes showing up for carers.

What happens when caring ends?

Researchers from UNSW Sydney, Deakin University, and University of Melbourne are conducting a broader research study on understanding and supporting informal caring trajectories.

They want to speak with people whose care has ended, also known as former carers. This includes a range of circumstances. For example, the care recipient/s you looked after no longer require caring, or you are not willing to/no longer in the position to perform caring activities.

If this relates to your own experiences, or someone you know the researchers would like to hear from you.

Visit the UNSW Sydney website for more information and to register your interest to participate. https://ow.ly/6o6B50ZAiSX

A big thank you from us to equity trustees for shining a light on some of the work we do with our Young Carer Scholarships.

Young carers are juggling their caring responsibilities before and after school while often experiencing significant financial strain. Many miss out on the ordinary rhythms of childhood – afternoon sports or simply hanging out with friends.

For almost two decades, Carers Victoria has offered the Young Carers Scholarship to support wellbeing, independence and peer connection.

“These scholarships focus on giving the young person agency to identify what they need that’s really going to benefit them,” says Tamara Pierce of Carers Victoria. “This is about the young carer doing something for themselves.”

This year, saw a huge 54% increase in demand for Young Carer Scholarships and we are proud to have Scholarships to 208 young carers in Secondary School across Victoria.
