We are delighted to invite artists and creatives in Melbourne’s west to express their interest in a range of residencies in Maribyrnong in 2027. These residencies support those wanting to create new work in dedicated spaces, present a performance season, or collaborate with community on a deeply engaged arts project.

Opportunities include:

🧩 Maribyrnong Community-Engaged Artist in Residence Program: a residency for experienced community-engaged artist/s to work with and celebrate the communities who use Maribyrnong Community Centre.

📝 West Footscray Writer-in-Residence Program: a four-week artistic residency with access to office space, embedded within the West Footscray Library and Neighbourhood House.

🎭 Bluestone Church Arts Space residencies: Creative development opportunity for works in progress and supported seasons for shows ready for production.

Browse the Residencies webpage for open EOIs and submit yours before 4 October 2026. https://www.maribyrnong.vic.gov.au/arts-and-culture/Programs/Artists-in-Residence

The Maribyrnong Youth Forum was more than a day of discussion — it was a chance for young people to connect, build confidence, share their experiences and have a real say in the future of their community.
From meeting new people and hearing inspiring stories, to working together on big ideas over bubble tea and banh mi, young people brought their voices, experiences and perspectives to the table.

Led by the Maribyrnong Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC), participants explored six topics that matter to young people: mental health, social isolation, employment, youth crime, physical activity and inclusion.

Together, they developed practical recommendations for Council that will help shape the work of Maribyrnong Youth over the next two years.

Thank you to everyone who brought their ideas, energy and curiosity to the day. 💜

Watch our second video 🎥 to see more of the people, conversations and moments that made the Youth Forum special.

🎸✨ Huge thanks to everyone who came along to our GREAZWAVE event last month, as well as the incredible artists who performed and our Amplify Committee who helped bring the event to life.

Held at Kindred Studios in Yarraville, it was a great afternoon full of live music, good vibes, and community. We even had a slider food truck on site keeping everyone fuelled 🍔

Amplify is a youth-led music and arts program that gives young people hands-on experience in live events, creative industries, and performance opportunities.

We're so proud to create free, safe spaces where young people can connect, support local artists, and have fun. Thanks for making it such a great day! 💜
