U3A Moonee Valley Inc. The U3A Moonee Valley (University of the Third Age) is a non-political, non-denominational and voluntary community organisation for people over the age of 50

HISTORY

The U3A was established in Moonee Valley in 1997 to provide opportunities for people of the third age to learn new skills, share knowledge and experiences but also to give support in a relaxed atmosphere for the mental and physical benefit of all.

This week the Monday Morning Movers met at Essendon Station to take the 903 bus to Coburg. They enjoyed a walk along the Merri Creek and around Coburg Lake. Plenty of water after the weekend rain!

A welcome coffee break at the Boot Factory before heading downstream on the creek past Joe’s Garden at Ceres and under the suspension bridge.

At Rennie St they left the shared trail to walk along the streets back to Sydney Rd/Bell St bus stop to take the 903 bus back to Essendon.

They are an energetic lot!

PEDALLING FOR PLEASURE-GREEN GROUP.
The enthusiastic group cycled from Ormond Park to Edwardes Lake in Reservoir on Friday on a perfectly sunny day, then back to the Cross Keys Hotel.

The train is a preserved locomotive (an A2 class no. 964) which operated on Victorian railways from 1921 t0 1963. In 1968 it was purchased by the Preston Council for $640- and transported to the park for over $3000! It is one of only 5 preserved A2 class locomotives and now worth $200,000, which may explain why it is now fenced and unable to be climbed on.
