Week 5 Socialist Club Meeting!

Based on all the fearmongering in the media lately, mere mention of Marx’s name still sends a shiver down the spine of reactionaries and bigots everywhere. But if you’ve only ever read about him in uni, you probably haven’t got the full picture.

Come along to hear about Marx’s key arguments, including why working class power is the key to overthrowing capitalism. And ask your questions too!

Get involved in the biggest socialist election campaign in Victoria's history!

The state election in November is the most important in a generation. One Nation's fascistic politics is on the rise backed by the biggest capitalist in the country. One Nation attacks women, migrants, trans people, workers and all the oppressed.

The answer to Hanson’s dog-eat-dog vision of society dominated by money making with no constraints is one of genuine human dignity and solidarity, a society organised to meet the needs of those who work to sustain it rather than a privileged and powerful minority. In other words, socialism.

Now is the time to become an active socialist. Join our meet-up with the Socialist candidate for Melbourne Jordan van den Lamb (aka PurplePingers) and for Footscray Jasmine Duff.

Week 3 - RMIT Socialist Club Talk: Capitalism is Killing the Planet

The relentless drive for profit—a defining characteristic of capitalism—is condemning the world to catastrophic environmental disaster. The competition, free markets, and pursuit of profit that apologists for capitalism defend are threatening to destroy the planet on which the system depends.

In this meeting, we will discuss why capitalism does this, why it can’t stop, and why we need an entirely new system if we want to turn the tide on climate catastrophe.
