A 31-year-old man has been arrested as part of the investigation into the death of a woman in Carlton on the weekend.

The Carlton man handed himself into a police station and is now expected to be interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives.

We've charged a teenager after a vehicle was allegedly driven erratically and struck a pedestrian in Melbourne C*D yesterday.

It’s alleged a stolen Ford Escape struck a 57-year-old Southbank woman who was standing at the intersection Flinders and Elizabeth Street, about 10.45am. She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old has been charged with reckless conduct endanger serious injury, other traffic related offences as well as handle stolen goods. He was remanded to appear at a children’s court later today.

Police have confirmed this is not an act of terrorism nor was it a targeted attack.

Victoria Police will have a visible presence at the AAMI Park match between Melbourne Victory and South Melbourne FC, in addition to multiple public events across the Melbourne and Olympic Park precincts today.

This will include highly visible patrols both inside and around venues, as well as nearby licensed venues before and after the events.

General duties police will be supported by the Public Order Response Team and Mounted Branch in patrolling around the precinct, while PSOs will be conducting patrols of nearby public transport hubs.

Our priority will be ensuring all members of the public can enjoy their attendance and get home safely.

Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teenager following an extended follow across several suburbs of Melbourne.

The 16-year-old from the greater Cardinia area, has been charged with a raft of offences including:

-dangerous driving whilst pursued by police
-reckless conduct endangering life/serious injury (x2)
-theft of motor vehicle
-fail to stop on police direction
-theft (x2) relating to allegedly stolen registration plates
-unlicensed driving
-handle stolen goods
-deal property suspected to be proceeds of crime
-possess controlled weapon

We’ve charged a man after a plate of food was thrown at a woman and child at the AFL preliminary final in September.

The 34-year-old man has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of throw missile.

The charges follow a report to police that at the conclusion of the game on Saturday 19 September, a plate of food was allegedly thrown at a 47-year-old woman and 8-year-old child.

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a sexual assault on Tram 86, Melbourne C*D.

Investigators were told a 22-year-old woman was standing on the tram on 15 AUG 2026 at about 7:10pm.

A man stood behind the victim before he touched her inappropriately on her back.

This incident is believed to have occurred while the tram was in transit between Crown and Bourke Street Mall.

Following the incident, the man got off the tram near Bourke Street Mall.

Detectives have released a composite sketch of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

Police have charged a man following an alleged stabbing in South Melbourne this afternoon.

It is alleged the man stabbed a female victim on a moving tram on Eastern Road about 12pm.

The 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
