💙FOSTER CARER OR ADOPTION💙

Name: Sheroo
Age: 18mths
S*x: Male
Fully vetworked

Sheroo is a young teen who hasn't had the best start in life. He is currently in a Melbourne shelter and would love to be out and live the life he deserves.

He's spent the majority of his life tethered in a yard with no training and little socialisation. He has never lived inside or met children and doesn't like cats according to his previous owners.

Despite this he is a lovely dog who shows social intent with other dogs but can get frustrated or over aroused quickly as he doesn't actually know how to interact appropriately.

With people he is interested in pats and affection but like most husky's it is often on his own terms. When stressed or over aroused he can be mouthy but responds well to training - he is very food motivated - and is quick to pick up skills having already mastered sit and touch. He has been boisterous but tolerated handling in his vet exams and has a clean bill of health.

Sheroo would thrive in a home with experienced owners who can continue to work on his foundation skills and who have the patience to help a rowdy teen learn to relax and settle before introducing him to a wider world. He would do best in a home with no small children or cats and may be able to live with another relaxed role model dog so long as there is room to separate and time to manage introductions and interactions.

Dash came into foster care last week with one of our amazing foster carers, who has fostered dozens of Huskies for us over the years. ❤️

He arrived as a very shy boy, and we thought he might need a little extra time and patience to help build his confidence.

Well… Dash had other ideas! 😂 He is doing absolutely amazing and is already acting like he’s lived there forever. 🥰

A huge part of that is their beautiful girl Addie. Addie was a foster fail many years ago and has become the perfect teacher and guidance counsellor for the foster dogs lucky enough to make their way into this home.

She’s patient, she’s kind… sometimes 😂 and she knows exactly how to show them the ropes. But Addie does have her limits, and she isn’t afraid to let them know when they’ve crossed the line. She teaches them about personal space, manners and how things work in her home.

We absolutely LOVE Addie. ❤️ She has been every bit as perfect and amazing as her foster care humans.

We are so very grateful for every Husky who has been fortunate enough to land in foster care with them. They truly make such a difference to the lives of the dogs who come through their door. ❤️🐾

Any guesses what Addie is thinking with Dash constantly looking for her attention? 🤣❤️

Together forever ❤️🐾

Our gorgeous senior boys, Digga and Shadow, have officially settled into their new home in Brisbane! 🏡❤️

These two boys have been through so much, and knowing they still have each other and a loving forever family makes our hearts so happy.

We are endlessly grateful to their wonderful adopters for opening their hearts and home to these two senior gentlemen and giving them the loving forever home they deserve.

Happy forever, boys. You found your people. ❤️

Impounded in a Melbourne pound

“Lucian” | Husky | Grey | Male Desexed | 10 years old

Vaccination and Health Check Pending Appointment

Lucian came in over the weekend as another surrender to the pound, due to his owner no longer being able to care for him. While Lucian is 10 years old, he doesn’t let it show! He is a happy goofy bouncy guy who loves squeaky toys, is very food motivated and is very affectionate. He likes to prance everywhere and seriously enjoys a game of chasey. He walks very well on the leash, which is amazing for a husky in a new environment. He also already knows sit and drop, but wont show us if he knows anything else. During his temperament test he was a typical husky, wanting to jump all over the other dog and use his paws for emphasis. In typical husky fashion he is untested with cats, and probably shouldn’t be housed with cats.
* The only note to consider is that his previous owner stated he wasn’t sure about interactions with big dogs because he was bitten by a german shepherd when he was younger. We tested him with a medium sized staffy and he did very well! He has shown no fear or any form of discomfort while here or walking passed any different dogs.

He would likely suit a lovely female companion or as an only dog.

The usual husky rules apply, with NO CATS OR POCKET PETS.
Secure 5ft dig proof fences

Please complete a relevant application if you can help us save Lucian or pm the page for any questions.

🖤 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION 🖤

Obilex | 10 months | Male | Siberian Husky
Located Melb

Named after the legendary (and very handsome) Viking from Asterix, Obie is doing his best to live up to the name. He’s certainly nailed the handsome part… now he’s just waiting for the rest of his body to catch up! 😂

At 10 months old, this lovable goof is all legs, ears and enthusiasm.

Obie is incredibly intelligent, endlessly entertaining and happiest when he’s zooming around with his fur siblings. He plays beautifully with other dogs, although he occasionally forgets that he’s not actually lap-dog sized. Personal space? Never heard of it! If you’re standing still for too long, expect a giant bear hug and a fluffy shadow curled up at your feet.

This young Husky loves being part of the family. He’s house trained, with the occasional reminder, knows the basics and is very food motivated, making training lots of fun.

He’s currently learning to walk nicely on a loose lead, but when you’re young and the whole world is exciting, it’s hard not to stop and investigate absolutely everything!

Obie is great with kids, but because he’s a big, enthusiastic young boy who can be a little rough with his affection, older or confident children would be best suited to him.

Obie thrives on being part of the family and would absolutely love a home with another playful companion to learn from, play with, do zoomies with and use a cushion 😂

Obie is looking for an active family who will include him in all of life’s adventures, keep his clever mind busy and appreciate his goofy personality.

In return, he’ll reward you with endless laughs, unconditional love and more Husky cuddles than you ever thought possible. ❤️🐾

Could Obie be your next adventure buddy?

Obie thrives on being part of the family and would absolutely love a home with another playful companion to learn from, play with, do zoomies with and, of course, share a cushion with! 😂

He has the biggest heart and just wants to be loved, included and part of the family. ❤️🐾

FOSTER CARER FOUND 🎉Together🎉

Evening all,

We haven’t been able to secure a home for either Nala or Neo

Yes, they are bonded, and we would love to see them stay together.

That said, we believe they would each cope well in separate homes if the right match came along. Neo, in particular, would benefit from joining a home with another confident, kind dog who could help him build his confidence and feel safe as he settles into his new life.

Our priority is finding a home for each of them, whether that’s together or apart to get them out of the pound.

FOSTER CARER FOUND 🎉Together🎉

🚨 Foster Homes Needed Urgently 🚨
Located Melbourne

We are looking for foster homes to help bust these two beautiful Husky X’s out of the pound before it’s too late.

They can be fostered together or separately.

At this stage, this is all the information we have from the pound where they were recently surrendered. We hope to learn more about them soon and will share any updates as we receive them.

🐺 Nala (Mum)
📅 DOB: 02/09/2024

Nala is described as a very outgoing and friendly girl. She will need secure fencing, as she has previously managed to get over a 5-foot fence where the palings were on the inside. She appears to be a confident, happy girl who is ready for a fresh start.

🐺 Napoleon (Son)
📅 DOB: 11/08/2025

Napoleon is the quieter of the two. He’s a little timid and can be a bit of a scaredy-cat at first, but he’s a very sweet boy once you get down to his level and earn his trust. So far he hasn’t shown any interest in escaping and prefers to stay close to Nala, so we think he would enjoy having a canine companion.

Both dogs have mostly lived outdoors.

If you can open your home to either Nala or Napoleon, or even better, both of them, please get in touch with Homes For Huskies Rescue as soon as possible. Fostering truly saves lives, and these two deserve the chance to leave the pound behind and start their next chapter.

The usual husky rules apply, with NO CATS OR POCKET PETS.
Secure 6ft dig proof fences

Please pm or email us on contact@homesfor huskies.org.au for any questions or to express your interest.

ON HOLD PENDING ADOPTION
🎉🎉♥️ TOGETHER ♥️🎉🎉
Meet Digga and Shadow, two beautiful senior Huskies who are searching for either a loving foster home or their forever family. We'd ideally like to keep them together, but will consider separating them to help them find their new home.

Shadow, 11, and Digga, 14, are a loving husky duo who are looking for a home that understands older dogs, respects their routines, and can give them the comfort, care, and companionship they deserve.

Digga and Shadow would suit a calm, husky-savvy home with secure fencing, space to enjoy daily life, and people who appreciate their personalities. Homes for Huskies will support their medical needs, helping ensure they’re looked after as they transition into a new home and settle in safely.

If you’ve got room in your heart and home for two beautiful senior boys, Shadow and Digga could be the perfect match. Please contact Homes for Huskies to learn more about adopting this bonded pair. 💖AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION💖

Athena | 5 yr old | Siberian Husky
Located Melbourne

🌸 Athena is a beautiful Siberian Husky with a big, lively personality and an abundance of love to give. She is full of energy, affection, and classic husky charm, the kind of dog who naturally becomes the heart of the home. Whether she’s out exploring on an adventure, going for a swim (absolute water baby), hiking, playing with other huskies, Athena brings joy, warmth, and constant entertainment wherever she goes.

Athena’s humans have had to relocate overseas and are unable to bring her along due to government restrictions on size for certain type of housing.
She is currently in the care of one of our wonderful foster carers and has settled in beautifully. They are absolutely in awe of how quickly and well she has adjusted to her new environment. She has been a pleasure to have in their home and is thriving in foster care.

❣️Best Qualities
Athena is incredibly affectionate and thrives when she’s close to her people. She loves belly rubs, huge FOMO (fear of missing out), and always ready for a big play. At the end of the day, she’s happiest snuggled on her bed independently. She is accustomed to being alone and will entertain herself with toys during office hours. She is physically ‘short and stumpy’ no larger than a labrador.

🐾 Training & Manners
Athena knows a variety of commands and is quite responsive when food is involved. She can sit, paw, bark on command, and even “speak” with her signature “awoo”. She is also capable of using a dog communication button to let you know when she would like treats.
She is highly food-motivated, which makes her eager to learn and engage during training sessions. However, she can become very excited and a little overstimulated when higher-value or different treats are introduced, so she does best with calm structure and consistency during training.

🚶🏼Exercise & Energy
Athena is a high-energy girl who would do best in an active household. She enjoys being on the move and would be a fantastic partner for long walks, hikes, or runs, always eager to explore and take in her surroundings. Once her exercise needs are met, she switches off nicely indoors and is more than happy to relax, often choosing to rest quietly for the remainder of the day.

🐕 Social with Other Dogs
Athena is extremely extroverted and her intentions are always pure. However, she assumes that every dog is an extrovert too. She plays with her group of huskies, golden retriever and labrador friends very often at the dog park.
She does not like sharing her favourite ball. When she plays with her friends, She prefers that everyone has their own ball or no ball game at all.
If Athena has the opportunity to pick her new family without being an only dog home, she would be better suited with homes who already have an OLDER husky or dog of the same size.
👧🏻 Kids
Athena has played around groups with young children under 5, received pats and played fetch with the ball while kids are throwing her ball but untested in a home environment. Older child would definitely be suitable.

🗣️Typical Husky Personality
Athena is extremely expressive. However, she does not bark regularly or unintentionally, although she has been trained to bark on command, speak on command. She grew up not knowing her voice until her humans taught her that she has a voice! She’s full of personality and extremely derpy.

🚙 Car Travel
Athena is completely okay with car travels. Her humans frequently take long 3–4 hour drives to go hiking with her. She is unfazed by car anxiety, car sickness and also her humans horrible loud singing on roadtrips while the speakers are blasting spotify.

🏠 House Training & Home Life
Athena is house trained and has access to the backyard to do her 1 and 2. She is completely neutral about taking a bath as her humans have conditioned her at a young age to bathing routines. She likes warm bath water temperature like her humans do. Athena has a high food drive, therefore, any bits from the counter top or fallen food are expected to be gobbled up possibly before they reach the ground.

🍖 Food & Diet
Athena is highly food motivated and she is a big lover of bread. Training and obedience may shift in sight of bread as she may not be able to resist in a good loaf. Athena regularly takes kibbles / raw diet mix. She does not have any food allergies and is a big eater. Do not fall for the ‘I don’t think I had dinner yet’ look.

⚠️ Important Information
Athena is a digger but she is not an escape artist. She loves mud and water. She digs to lie in her creation rather than to escape. However, a secure home committed to husky proof fencing and supervision is needed. Athena has had seizures growing up however, she is not on any lifelong medication.

🐱 Other Pets
Untested with cats or pocket pets. Don’t think she has ever seen a cat in her life.
