Tonight at Fed Square there will be a candlelight vigil to remember those who lost their lives in the Nepal flood disaster 🕯️💔

The event welcomes Victorians to come together to stand in solidarity with the families and communities of those affected by this tragedy.

💖Tonight (Thursday 27 August) we’ll be screening 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒔 on the Big Screen at 8pm in celebration of Dolly’s life, and for some well-needed group catharsis 🎬😭

Because no one quite brought people together like Dolly.

The film stars Dolly in her iconic role as Truvy Jones, glamour technician at a small-town salon in Louisiana where a group of close-knit Southern women gather to gossip, share stories, and support each other through life’s ups and downs.

With an all-star case including Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah, and of course Dolly Parton, the film is a beloved classic, and a moving story about the power of friendship between women.

The deckchairs will be out, but dress warmly and bring a blanket.

And definitely bring tissues 🥹

Here’s a little flashback to 2008 when more than 2,000 people gathered at Fed Square to break the world record for the biggest ever group Time Warp – the dance made famous by Curry in his iconic performance in the 1975 cult musical-horror The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This spring, you’re invited to a 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 🌱

The day will be full of music, ceremony, art and conversation, where you can explore a plant market, enjoy delicious food and learn from Elders and First Nations knowledge holders about caring for Country.

Throughout the day, you can join in a hands-on propagation or creative workshop led by artists and plant experts – and meet with passionate environmentalists from local community groups working to protect our landscapes and waterways through collective grassroots action.

The exciting line-up of live music includes 𓇼˖° ❊ 𝓚𝓮𝓮’𝓪𝒽𝓃 ☽ ˖°𓇼 Riff Raff Marching Band and the Climate Choir Melbourne alongside music from DJs Darcy justice General Vibes and Tess Monaghan B2B Elsie.

𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 is a celebration of our month of community-led volunteer plantings held in August across Melbourne and beyond.

If you joined a 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 event, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 will be an opportunity to reconnect with community groups and volunteers and perhaps make new friends.

🎺 Just announced this week 😍 As part of Melbourne International Jazz Festival this October, you can catch free jazz 🎶 and free outdoor cinema 🎬 across the festival’s opening weekend.

On the Saturday, join in the Second Line Street Party led by New Orleans’ (in their first ever visit to Oz!) – then head to the Square for more free live music, featuring Rebirth Brass Band, and .

Then on the Sunday – it’s free outdoor cinema, featuring the 2020 animated classic, 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘭.
