🥹 Old Calder Highway has been boom gate free for a whole year!

👏 Thousands of motorists now benefit from safer journeys in Diggers Rest following the opening of the new Golden Way road bridge and removal of the Old Calder Highway level crossing.

🛣️ The road bridge opened to traffic in June 2025, separating vehicles from trains by connecting Old Calder Highway to Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road over the rail line, boosting safety and easing congestion for locals.

⚜️ The new road connection was named Golden Way in recognition of the area’s gold rush roots, and as the preferred choice by locals following community consultation.

❄️ Works are heating up in Melton this winter.

👷‍♂️ Our team will work 24/7 over 3 weeks to complete the new Ferris Road bridge and remove another dangerous level crossing in the west.

❌ So we can safely complete the works, Ferris Road will be closed between Abey Road and Hollingsworth Drive from Tuesday 23 June to Wednesday 15 July, with detours in place.

🚗 When the road reopens, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will use the new road bridge, making journeys safer and more reliable for thousands of people.

🤔 Have you ever wondered how stabling yards support Melbourne's train network?

🚉 We completed works on the Kananook Stabling Yard last year, with Frankston Line trains now able to be serviced, washed and stabled at the facility, helping to deliver more reliable services for passengers.

🛁 It's like a spa, but for trains – including some fancy new X'Trapolis 2.0 trains.

🙌 Works are moving forward at Boronia.

🏗️ Crews have craned materials and equipment onto the closed Boronia Station platforms, including new passenger shelters and seating, toilets, lighting, and sections of the soon-to-be upgraded passenger waiting room.

🚧 Other works to come include constructing the new PSO building and access ramps, as well as roofing on the new ticket office and platform canopies.

🌱 At Lupton Way, we’ve been busy with drainage works and building the new community plaza that’ll connect the station forecourt to Dorset Road.

🚉 When the upgraded Boronia Station reopens in spring, the modern station forecourt will feature a canopy inspired by flora from the nearby Dandenong Ranges, and an expanded concourse to improve connections over the rail line.

👋 Bye bye boom gates!

🥳 The boom gates at Hopkins Road, Truganina are gone for good, following a 24/7 construction blitz while trains weren’t running.

🚗 Vehicles have been travelling over the new Hopkins Road bridge since it opened on Sunday 17 May.

🌱 Works will continue to landscape the surrounding area with more than 80,000 native plants, trees and shrubs.

👷 Another 3 level crossings are set to go from the west this year, with works underway to build the new Ferris Road bridge, and 2 new rail bridges over Coburns and Exford roads in Melton.

🌤️ It's all sweet in West Tarneit!

👷 Crews at West Tarneit Station have wrapped up a 24/7 construction blitz to install signalling for the new station in Melbourne’s growing west.

🚉 The new station will help take pressure off the nearby Tarneit Station and improve access to transport for locals.

🚆 The new signalling installed will help integrate West Tarneit Station into the rail network and ensure services can operate safely when the station opens later this year.

✨ West Tarneit Station will also feature a 4-bay bus interchange, parking for up to 400 commuters, a landscaped precinct, and separated walking and cycling pathways.

🕺 Groovin at Ruthven Street.

👇 Here are the final designs for the new Ruthven Street rail bridge, community space in Rosanna Parklands and a walking and cycling path that'll connect Macleod and Rosanna, all to be delivered as part of the Ruthven Street Level Crossing Removal Project.

💬 Community feedback has influenced the final designs, creating safer connections for locals and delivering a landscaped space featuring native plants and seating.

🟩 The colour scheme of the rail bridge includes green painted piers, natural copper coloured screening and landscaped retaining walls to blend in with the leafy parkland surroundings.

🏃‍♂️ A new path along Ellesmere Parade between Ruthven Street and Davies Street, will create more than 2km of active transport connections between Macleod and Rosanna.

👷‍♂️ Early works are underway with major construction to begin later this year, and the boom gates will be gone for good and trains running on the new rail bridge in 2027.

📣 Attention Seaford!

👷‍♂️ We’re removing the dangerous and congested level crossings at Armstrongs Road and Station Street by building rail bridges over the roads, and building a new modern Seaford Station with better facilities for passengers.

🚉 Early designs are available for the new elevated Seaford Station and rail bridges, and we want to hear from the local community to help refine these designs.

📣 It's your turn, Yarraville!

🚧 In case you missed it, designs have been released for Anderson Street, where we're closing the level crossing, and building 2 new underpasses to create safer journeys through the Yarraville Village area.

🤝 Engagement with the community and local traders has informed the designs for the project, to deliver the best outcome for the area.
