James Dodd exhibits regularly across Australia. He works across a range of mediums with particular interests in painting, machines as art, graffiti, adventure and public space. He maintains a curiosity in sheds, backyards suburbia and the creative activities and transgressions that occur in these spaces.
Dodd is active as an educator at Adelaide Central School of Art and regularly delivers youth and community based arts programs across a range of outcomes, include regional and remote communities. -
“Whilst I am a painter, and committed to all of the various conversations and pursuits that are central to a painting practice, I am also turned on by machines, simple engineering, creativity that is found in sheds and backyards, DIY and invention. I am curious to make things do things that they may not originally have been intended to. People who pull things apart, tweak things, fix things and adapt things to their own ends are my heroes.”
