A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a suspicious fire at a Melton business early this morning.

Two people got out of a white ute and entered the store where it appears an accelerant was poured before being set alight.

While one man was airlifted to hospital, we're still trying to identify the other person involved in the incident. It’s believed they may have significant burns to their hands and feet.

Police are seeking assistance from the community following the report of an alleged Armed Robbery at Lozzbert Reserve Weir Views.

Investigators from the Brimbank Divisional Response Unit are currently investigating an alleged Armed Robbery which occurred in vicinity of Exford Road and Greigs Road, Weir Views on the 31st of August 2026 at about 5:30-6:45 pm.

The victim parked his vehicle a 2022 black Mazda CX-8 in the carpark and went for a walk in the reserve where it is alleged by investigators that he was approached by three (3) unknown males all described of Islander appearance and all around 25-30 years of age.

The first unknown male is described as 6 feet tall, large build with black short curly hair, has dark circles under his eyes and was wearing a black hooded jumper and brown work boots. The second unknown male was described as wearing a Grey T-shirt and the third is believed to be bald.

The males allegedly produced an edged weapon and made demands for the victim’s phone, wallet and car keys. A short time the offenders left in the victim’s vehicle bearing registration 1YG 2AR. This vehicle remains outstanding.

Anyone who may have observed any of these males in the vicinity or has dash camera footage of this incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 where you can remain anonymous. On Tuesday 25th of August Melton Neighbourhood Policing Team had the pleasure of sharing our Coffee with a Cop event with some four-legged friends from Guide Dogs Australia turning the event into Coffee with a Pup.

A big shout out to the stars of the show; Marie, Delphie, Flo, Simba and Biscoff who brought smiles to many faces young and old.

On Monday 24th at about 1:00pm, Police received numerous triple zero (000) calls alerting police to a car driving on its rims erratically down Centenary Ave, Kurunjang.

Police followed the gouge marks in the road and information from the public to a house where they located the vehicle and a male behind the wheel. The vehicle was extensively damaged missing the front left tire and a deflated rear tire.

The driver a 25yr old Kurunjang male was arrested charged with Reckless Conduct Endangering Serious Injury, Drive in Manner Dangerous, Fail to have Proper Control of a Motor Vehicle, Exceed Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (0.204 reading on an EBT) and multiple other traffic offences. The male was bailed to appear at court at a later date.

Today, and every day, we remember Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart and the tragedy that occurred in Porepunkah on 26 August 2025.
