Do you need to burn off green waste around your farm? 🚜🔥

During the Fire Danger Period, permits can be issued for agricultural activities like stubble burning—helping landholders carry out essential farm hygiene and preparation under controlled conditions.

If you have a permit, it’s vital to understand and follow all conditions to keep yourself, your property, and your community safe.

Permit conditions include:
• Having the permit with you during the burn
• Adhering to maximum burn size
• Following approved start and extinguishment times
• Establishing fire breaks
• Removing nearby flammable materials
• Monitoring weather conditions (temperature & wind)
• Having adequate water available on-site
• Ensuring adult supervision at all times
• Maintaining communication access to Emergency Services (000)

Before you burn, you must notify:
• Burn-off Hotline – 1800 668 511
• Adjoining landholders
• Your local Brigade Captain
• DEECA (if near State Forest, National Park or protected public land)

Burning off safely is everyone’s responsibility—make sure you’re prepared and compliant before you light up.

Summer may be over, but the fire risk isn’t 🔥

Fire Restrictions remain in place across most of the state, meaning you can’t burn off, weld or grind without first understanding the conditions and restrictions that apply.

Now is not the time to become complacent. While recent rain has provided some relief, the ground remains extremely dry and fire can still start and spread quickly.

Before you light up or start work, make sure you know what you can and can’t do.

For more information and to check restrictions in your area, visit: www.cfa.vic.gov.au/can

The cooler weather has brought some much-needed rain and a welcome bit of relief 🌧️—but the Fire Danger Period (FDP) is still in place.

🔥 This means you cannot burn off without a permit.

If you’re planning to burn, make sure you do the right thing and contact your local CFA District for more information and permit requirements.

Stay safe and continue to check conditions before lighting up
