Where Are They Now: Grace 🌟

Grace first joined Café Social as a teenager and spent more than 5 years growing her skills, confidence, and leadership, all while being a devoted mum to two beautiful boys 💛

Her journey as a young parent in the Sutherland Shire inspired a bold vision: more peer support for young mums. And she made it happen 👏
Grace worked with Project Youth to secure funding for THRIVE, a safe and empowering space designed by young mothers, for young mothers. Today, she leads the program as our Peer Support Worker, walking alongside other young women as they build their futures.

Grace also brings her lived expertise to YPAC, Young People Advocating Change, helping shape decisions at a governance level to ensure young people remain at the heart of everything we do.

And… she still keeps us grounded in dignity every day as our Cleanliness Officer, making sure every Project Youth space is welcoming, safe, and full of respect.

We’re so proud of you, Grace, a powerful reminder that when young people lead, communities change. 🌱✨

🌟 Where Are They Now? Brandon’s Story 🌟

Brandon first joined Café Social at just 15, as a young casual he worker Saturday shifts. Over six years, he grew into a confident, skilled, and independent young man who became an essential part of the team. He completed his hospitality qualifications and mastered his role in the kitchen, cooking up great meals and serving every customer with a smile. 😄

But the real success? The life skills he took with him: routines, teamwork, confidence, and the belief that he could take on anything.

Today, Brandon is pursuing his dream trade career, undertaking an apprenticeship in air conditioning and absolutely loving it.

We couldn’t be prouder to see him building his future, one step, and one toolkit, at a time. 👏

🌟 Where Are They Now? Tash! 🌟

From Café Manager to Youth Worker. Tash’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. After finishing up at Café Social in 2024, and having completed her Diploma in Community Services, Tash stepped into a youth work role here at Project Youth.

Now, Tash is the person many young people meet when they first reach out for help, offering guidance, support, and a listening ear from someone who truly understands. She continues to use her lived experience to create change, champion young voices, and advocate for an end to youth homelessness.

We’re so proud of everything Tash has achieved and everything she’s yet to do. 💛✨
